If I would go thru The College Network, how much do they charge per study guide???

I just call them Yesterday to verify. They told me that the General education modules cost $495 and the Nursing modules cost $630:cry:

Wow, when I start researching it in January it was less. I purchased in March for Excelsior Nursing Modules and paid $495 each, thankfully I didn't need any general education ones. I have a friend who purchased for Indiana in March also and paid the same as myself.

I really think it's crazy that what TCN charges for ONE study guide is more than twice the cost of the actual EC exam.

It is very expensive, but I needed someone to pretty much read the material and write the notes so I could just study them. And that is pretty much what you are paying for. I struggled with getting through the material for NC1 & NC2, while trying to juggle 2 babies and losing eveything to Hurricane Katrina, and then breezed through the exam. So my options were to rebuy the textbooks or go with College Network.

It also depends on what modules you need. The general ones run $495 but if you are doing ISU the phase II modules are more expensive.$2500 for the 4 of them.

Tell me about it. And nearly 7 times more than that of the clep and dantes test... And from what I hear they are ok, but alot of info that is on the test are not on the modules. I personally feel for anyone that paid full price for them. I do have a few that I bought off ebay at about $20 adn will use them but will not rely on them soley for any of my test outs.

I think that is crazy too. Do you guys know if I can find them anywhere else? I need to test out of it : Nursing 224(Nurs care of adults), Nursing 328( Nurs care of the child and Family) and Nurs 330( Nurs care of the childbearing Family). I need to take a test give by Indiana State University( in a proctor site). I need to pay half of the cost of credits of the classe before the test and half after. I need to score minimum 80%. I do not have to get the College Network modules for the first try, but if I do not pass, I only can test it again if I show to Indiana state prove that I bought the modules. They do give a list of books that we can study from it , but there are so many!

When I test out Nursing 106( mental health), I just got one book, but I only scored 80.5%.

For the General education classes, we can use the Elcesior exam.

Please understand that when I say things like that about TCN, I'm never criticizing the student using the materials, but the company that charges what I consider to be way too much. If you like the materials, great! And it sounds like you did your research and knew what you were doing ... all too often, that isn't the case, it seems.

I know someone posted that the modules are in the ISU lobrary and can be copied. I have seen them 2 times on ebay but the bidding did get rather high, though was still less than full price.

I think tha the people that do pay full price for them do not know tath there are other alternatives out there. I think the publishing companies would do alot more business if they lowered the prices ad made them compatable to what a book costs. Thier sales would probably double if not triple. I believe right now the people that buy them now are in a way forced if they do not know of the alternatives.

You are correct so many people paid the money and didn't know what they were getting. But you are correct about these companies, they saw $$$$ to be made off of people looking to better themselves.

My only problem with them is that it seems the salespeople aren't as direct as they should be. I didn't have a problem with mine but some make people think they *have* to use the modules for these tests. As far as making $$$$ off people, well, nothing wrong with that if you are honest! Capitalism is about seeing an opportunity to make money and going for it! :)
