Passed NCLEX, waiting for licens

Nurses Criminal

Published

I recently (a week ago) was informed of passing my NCLEX via the unofficial results. However, I have not received my license # yet and am not listed on the NYS BON website.

My classmates who took the test around the same time I did are on the website via search yet I am still not..

I'm nervous because I was charged with a non-violent, non-drug or substance involved misdemeanor in April. I disclosed this in full detail and was allowed to take the test. Would they allow me to take the test and then not issue me a license?? (Seems extremely unfair and quite petty IMO)

I need my license to enroll in a BSN program...I need to enroll in a BSN program to get hired where I currently work as an aide.....

Specializes in Med/Surg, Ortho, ASC.

What's an "unofficial" result?

Specializes in Education, FP, LNC, Forensics, ED, OB.

Thread moved to another forum where those with similar issues can reply.

Also for clarity, the charge did not involve theft. My girlfriend and I were in Florida visiting my brother. She tried getting into a bar and her ID was taken to police across the street for confirmation. I went with her because well...she's my girlfriend and I wasn't going to leave her in a foreign state even after the cops told me to either leave or stand a far distance away (which I did). When they couldn't confirm her ID they arrested her (her charges were eventually dismissed prior to her first court date). When they placed her in handcuffs I moved forward for a 3rd or 4th time to understand when she'd be able to contact me, go out on bail etc. Which is when I was arrested for "resisting without violence"...not like it matters now but prior to being arrested I didn't use any vulgarity, threats or demeaning language to the officers, I was simply concerned for the well-being of my girlfriend being in a situation she was never exposed to before (this was a first time experience for myself as well). I don't know if one could blame me for seeing this whole situation as completely unfair

I assume he means the quick results

Specializes in 15 years in ICU, 22 years in PACU.

I guess when the police say to stay put, moving forward 3 or 4 times makes it difficult to move forward in your professional career. As a professional nurse you will be held to a higher standard for the privilege of serving the public. You play by BoN rules or you don't play.

Yes, they would allow you to take the NCLEX before addressing the conviction, because they only need to review your case should you pass the exam. Considering you might not pass, they don't need to review it until you DO pass....and in your case, looks like you did. Congrats are in order for that, no doubt!

Once they have your exam status, they will review the rest of your application. Prior to the ATT, all they are doing is making sure all the pages of your application are present and complete. After the NCLEX.....then they will decide if you will get a license.

Good luck!

Nurses should be held to a higher standard but that doesn't mean they should put themselves on a higher horse than those we serve. I was simply probing into my licensing process, I called the board and they were actually very nice saying it should not be a problem. It's just a process that's drawn out a bit.
