Nurses Job Hunt

So I accepted a job at the Cleveland Clinic on a cardiac stepdown floor. I know I want to work in cardiac and the clinic is the place to be. However, I work at another area hospital on a medical cardiology floor with a similar population. This hospital is more nurse friendly and pays more than the clinic but the benefits are terrible.

Anyways, I had 24 hours to accept the offer at the clinic so I did. I now find out that I was offered an RN position on the floor I work on.

Is it still possible to back out on the clinic offer to accept the offer on the floor I work on? Part of me thinks it is really unprofessional but at the same time I have not signed anything.

Has anyone been in a similar position like this? Any advice would be appreciated!

A lot of people have been in your situation. You need to take the job that is best for you, the one that will be a best stepping stone for your career. Be professional and honest, and do what is best for you!! I would!

Will you have a smooth transition from student nurse/CNA to RN on the same floor or do you need a change of scenery perhaps? A supportive environment is very important. Does shift matter to you or are they both night shift positions?

All the nurses work very well on the floor that I work on and it would be a smooth transition. I don't think I need a change of scenery.I can honestly work at both hospitals. I love cardiac and that's where I want to work. The Cleveland Clinic position is straight nights whereas the other offer is rotating days/nights. I am going to ask my manager if it can be straight nights after orientation.

In regards to the first post the job that would be considered a stepping stone is the job at the Cleveland Clinic. I hate to say it but no one really stays at the clinic anymore for long periods (I mean some do, guess it depends what area of the hospital you are in), everyone uses it to put on a resume when they apply out of area/out of state or for grad school like CRNA. I am 29 and just graduated from nursing school with my BSN so I can def say CRNA is out of the picture. At this point I want to learn and gain experience and the clinic is the perfect hospital for that when it comes to cardiac.

The only thing that is better at the clinic are the managers. They all get a long very well. The nurses all work as a team (even at the other hospital). My manager now will throw you under the bus (so I am told). I think that was one of the reasons why I accepted the clinic position even if it pays $2 less.

I backed out of a Cleveland clinic offer 2 days before my first day of orientation for a job back home in Cbus 🙊 burnt that bridge!

They offered me the job only 1 week ago (to the day) so I figured it wouldnt be a huge deal if I did back out. However, I would bet that would burn any and all bridges haha. You are at OSU correct?
