Thank you note question

I would like to send a thank you letter by mail. Do you think it is better to type up a letter and personally sign it or buy a thank you card and write out my message? If I do a handwritten note, is it okay to print it or is cursive a better choice?

Thank you.

in my opinion it's better to type the letter and sign it just like you would with the cover letter. You don't want to do a card because that's not very professional

I have these all white notecards with my initials embossed on the front that I've written thank you notes on. They aren't super "professional," but aren't cutesy or anything like that. I hand write them in my regular handwriting (a mixture of cursive and print), but make sure that it is very neat. I also write out the note on a different piece of paper before to make sure everything is worded how I want it to be. I've had two interviews and two job offers, so my method definitely hasn't counted against me! I agree with the PP, in that if you decide to type it, make sure to actually sign your name.

I prefer handwritten, because I think I'd like to receive a handwritten note the most. But honestly, I think what you say in the letter is what matters most. Good luck!

I personally send a letter I wrote in Microsoft word and attach it in an email. I always have done it like that. But if you are able to hand write a note, even better. It does add a flair when you do this too. You can either do a blank or a prewritten card. And it also depends on your hand writing, if your cursive is difficult to read then do print, and vice versa. If you are doing a letter, then definitely type it. But if it is a literal card, then hand write it and mail it. It is all up to you.

I think the point is, it's a thank you. Personally I don't care if you write it, print it, type it or use a crayon. I think it's a lovely gesture and if there is one job and all else is equal, the person who sent the note gets the job.

I did a handwritten card & got the job :)
