How long after interview did you receive job offer?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I had an interview last Friday (May 4) and the clinical supervisor said I would be receiving a call today on whether or not I had the job or not. With my first job, I had a contract and I didn't even have a formal interview and got hired on the spot. So, I don't really know when,if at all,I should start to worry. I am sitting here looking at the clock & it is already 3:15 pm my time and all I can think about is that she will be leaving at 5:00. LOL. I am hoping that it is not unusual for them to say to expect a call and not to recive one the day they say?! Any suggestions/thoughts are welcomed!

I agree, call again to follow up. Dont think of it as being pushy think of the call as one more call they do not have to make. You are showing initiative.

Update: I called the director again yesterday. I got her voicemail, and left a very courteous message inquiring about the status of the position which I interviewed for a week ago. I still have had no response from her. Is this most likely a sign I didn't get the position?

I'm just not sure why she isn't returning phone calls, especially since she was the one to tell me to call her if I didn't hear anything from her in a few days. It's now beginning to make her look unprofessional, and has me questioning whether I even really want the offer if this is how my future boss is already treating me. During my interview, I stressed the importance of maintaining proper communication when working as a team. I feel like she may have not heard what I was saying.

At this point, I could stomach a rejection. At least it would be some form of communication and I could move on. Just don't know what to think or what to do next?

I'm also in the brink of applying these days, and I have the same kind of interviewer. I've been using all sorts of communication. He will reply to me at least but a day or so later, but with a "hanging" answers. I have also been thinking if I would want to sign up for the post. Well, for my case, I still continue my job hunt and attend various interviews, so I suggest you do the same. Best of luck to us! :)

The longest i waited was 2 weeks and the shortest was on the spot.

Guys, did you get the job offer before or after they did a background check on you? Thanks!

Applied April 28th

Interviewed May 9th, forgot to ask when I'd hear something. I sent follow-up thank you notes to both the Nursing Administrative Assistant (who set up the interview) and the ADON (who I interviewed with).

Heard back on May 17th, 8 days later, asking for permission to check my references. It took a few days for them to check my references.

Got an "informal" offer today May 24th. I am going for pre-employment health screening next week and a formal offer letter from HR will be issued from there.

I applied and have an interview this upcoming week. However, they have already asked for my references before my interview. Does this mean anything would they check the references and not hire me? I just feel as though they like what they see on paper so they check the references and have the interview because that's proper protocol. Has anyone else had their references checked before an interview and not get the job?

was it an offer over the phone? because ive been told i am hired but i had not receive the letter yet. Recruiter asked for SSN birthday and told me i was hired. gave me all the benefits the start date etc.(this was thursday 2 days ago)
