Any SN's from the Philippines? Post here!

I'm on my last semester and will be graduating this March 2006.

Wahooo!!! A few more steps and my journey to the real world begins...

Hello, I'm new here and I find this site very helpful and informative. I am also a second courser, a graduate of UP Diliman and a graduating student nurse from Our Lady of Fatima University. Will anyone tHell me if Balita's review center is ok? Thanks.

Hi, can I ask you if Fatima Univ is near Dapitan? Do they accept 2nd crse over 30 yrs old?

To Starbee,

What review center are you looking for? My hubby who is now an Rn here reviewed CGFNS from Marlon Ray Labagnoy in Baguio City, then Kaplan Manila- it's also okay. There's so many exams for foreign grad nurses ano? To enumerate all those bloody exams...

  1. National Local Board Licensure
  2. CGFNS Exam
  3. TSE
  4. IELTS
  5. TOEFL
  6. NCLEX

Review centers help with guide questions, review---but self-study and serious self-study and prayers is the best after review ctr scheds over.

Hi Nightingale Apolonia, I just wanna let you know that Fatima is not a University, its Our lady of Fatima College ( Foundation) located at Valenzuela City (towards NORTH), you can go check their website for more info, you can even view their nursing curriculum...The school near Dapitan is UST... YUP! they are accepting second courser and no age limit requirement unlike MCU they will only accept 28 years old and below, can you believe that? isnt it that an age discrimination? and most schools want you to start all over again from first year and its a waste of money and time in my opinion.

its kind of you sharing reliable informations here....sharing your great thougts..just wondering if you are pinoy too...

i'm among the million filipinos who took up nursing to get away from the "realities" in this country...sad huh?

the knowledge/skills gained by the health professionals here will be served to foreign lands...but who would care to have that sense of sucrifice in staying here if your genuine service to your people is not compensated justly???

god bless to you...

just as a gentle reminder:

please keep all postings in english, so that all may learn from you.

including me...............:)

Hello everyone. In case anyone is interested to know.....as I was visiting my former school, I was told that there will be a special B.S.N. progam for second coursers that will start this June in Philippine Women's University (Q.C. or Taft). It is trimestral and it is a two-year program. You may check out their website for further details. Thanks and good luck!

i hope people the degree's recognized wherever the student wishes to work (i.e. us???). suzanne once mentioned that the us accelerated bsn course isn't accredited outside the united states.

overall, this is thrilling. i believe the bigger schools won't take too long to offer a competing program.

hi Guys! I came across this forum when I am desperately looking for some information about getting a second degree in nursing in the Phil. I told myself why not try this forum, it wont hurt right? and upon reading all your messages and replies, it gave me hope that this forum would help me sort out things in my mind. Right now, i am looking for a school that can accept a second courser like me. I am still here in the US but planning to go home this April. I can only stay in the Phil. the most is 2 years, since Iam not a US citizen yet. so do you know any school that can help me finish the course in two years? how about the phil. board exam, do you have any idea what month/s does PRC give the nursing licensure examination, I know one is in December. Do I have to take the Phil. Licensure Exam prior to taking NCLEX-RN though I am an immigrant? any help/info. from you guys will be highly appreciated. I am so anxious about this idea bec its a big gamble for me, I'll be leaving a good job and my family, too!

You might want to consider "St Ignatius College". It's a new school in the Philippines offering a two-year Nursing program. The curriculum includes a final trimester which qualified students will spend at an affiliated Nursing school in the United States, finishing as U.S. Graduates. It has been granted affiliation status with Fresno City College of California to offer part of its U.S. 2 - year nursing degree in the Philippines. We will study 20 months in the Philippines - 5 trimesters of 4 months each and spend the last trimester in the U.S. We become a U.S. Nursing graduate and automatically qualify for the NCLEX. No other examinations are needed to be licensed.
