CES...just confused
Hi there! I just learned today that SSN is now required for Vermont applicants. I have been issued a CES Professional report which Vermont is the recipient…did not apply yet to Vermont…then few days ago they changed their policy – obviously as an IEN, am no longer qualified as an applicant now. The CES report for Vermont has a time frame of 1 year, basing on this…the validity of my CES report is until August 2012. a.) does CES has validity period or can I still use this CES report for Vermont on applying to other State that still accepts IENs? b.) anyone who can suggest States that still accept IENs? a State that requiring CES as part of the application process… Am confused again…I appreciate anyone who could straighten things out for me and Thank You!

H1C Visa
United States visa retrogression continues... Three legislative bills have been introduced regarding visa retrogression in the United States. HR1933 extends the H1-C visas for registered nurses. It is a temporary, three-year visa that can be renewed one time. The H1-C visas are limited to 300 per year. Previously, the quota was 5,500. They are restricted to those who are recruited for medically underserved areas with a limited number of Medicare/Medicaid beds. Because of the strict criteria of eligibility, only about 14 hospitals qualify. Ironically, less than 150 nurses per year have ever been recruited under this visa category. A third bill, HR 1929, titled “Emergency Nursing Supply Relief Act”, was introduced by Rep. Sensinbrenner. It would prohibit limitations on visas under Schedule A. The bill would allow for 20,000 visas per year, plus any unused numbers to be available for nurses. The bill would also impose fees on employers who petition for immigrant nurses. In addition, it provides grant money for schools of nursing to increases nursing faculty and students. Senators Melendez, Schumer, Durbin and others have introduced the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, S125, which is expected to start hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee on the controversial issues of immigration, amnesty, waivers for young children and border protection. It includes the same language as HR1933 regarding H1-C visas. In the past, Senators Durbin and Schumer have authored nursing immigration legislation. It is doubtful that any meaningful legislative action will occur, however, since 2012 is a Presidential election year, and legislators and presidential candidates want to avoid extremely divisive issues source ( http://www.cgfns.org/files/specialnotices/sept11/visa.html )

CES...just confused
Thank you ms.Silverdragon.I have another few questions... I included the 2 schools for my nursing degree and for the other degree, thus I have 2 request forms for academic records--but everything is integrated into 1 TOR. 1.) should I still ask the school for my non-Nursing education to fill-up the CES's request for academic records ; or 2.) just use 1 request form for my nursing degree for the integrated TOR Thanks again.

A "must-read" article...RETROGRESSION UPDATE
"I couldn't get the link to work, but, regardless of what the article says, I am strongly opposed to increasing the # of nurses imported into the US from other countries. There are far too many unemployed (and underemployed) US nurses for the time being. Fortunately, I agree with NRSKaren that the bill will never pass" You may copy/paste the “link” into the search bar, it will lead you to that article… no worries for American Nurses that IEN’s (specially the Filipino Nurses) will take away the jobs which are now quite elusive especially to the newly graduates (according to the many who couldn’t find jobs from the other posts) as retrogression is currently going on and will still for long years I think. And if one could qualify for a “specialist visa”, an employer may still proved they can’t employ a resident in your country. hmm, why am I posting such topic?...to somehow update anyone here that there are legislators have these interests but yeah, it will surely never pass as it is illogical that such kind of bill may favorable to the IEN’s while your own people are struggling for that decent job. But I must admit, am one of the thousand Filipinos who have that American dream… but in the right time….I will fulfill my dreams, when things would go okay…amen.

ahhh USA, as the destination of many...
Talking about the process of how to become a licensed Nurse abroad, monetarily speaking alone…it could explain wholly why USA is the #1 destination of Filipino Nurses. By just less than a 100,000Php, one could be licensed in the US…but someone whose interest to apply is either in Australia, Canada, New Zealand just to mention a few….one must invest half to 1 million Php. Good thing that in the Middle East, if one has 1-2years paid job experience or even without experience in the Hospital setting and with less than 50,000Php expenses, one could make it there, which is the main destination now of Filipino Nurses as the retrogression and recession currently going on...

A fun read article-a depiction of reality. If you are a Filipino...
then you know what i meant... japanese people can't pronounce the letter "l". that's why they are sometimes misunderstood. a japanese diplomat visited the philippines. in an interview to him by a well-known tv commentator and anchor aired on a national television, the japanese diplomat said: you firipino pipor are rocky. you have so many cabinet officiars who rob you. you have prenty of government officiars who rob you too. but most of oar, you firipino are very rocky orso because you have a president who robs you, and a first genterman who robs you more. translation you filipino people are lucky. you have so many cabinet officials who love you. you have plenty of government officials who love you too. but most of all, you filipino people are very lucky also because you have a president who loves you and a first gentleman who loves you more.

A "must-read" article...RETROGRESSION UPDATE
i got this article from pinoyrn... for more information....just click the link... http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:h.r.1001.ih: a bill has been filed in the u.s. congress seeking to create a special non-immigrant visa category for filipino nurses and other foreign registered nurses. the proposed legislation dubbed, "the nursing relief act of 2009" (h.r. 1001), will create a temporary w visa category for registered nurses. it will work in a very similar way as the h-1b visa except that the category is exclusive to registered nurses. the proposed w visa cateogory will have a yearly numerical limit of 50,000. however, the cap may be increased depending on the demand for foreign nurses. a w visa will be valid for three (3) years at a time.

is it worth to stay here in my country?...
It is a fact--nursing is the #1 course in the Philippines...proof? 1.) The only field that has huge number of examines- November 2008 figure reaches to 88,750 examinees 2.) Some of those who attained the highest profession give up their career and enrolled into nursing like lawyers, doctors... as it is believed there is great money on this profession -if could work abroad. The scary figure on this Profession is increasing each year from the graduates and those unemployed. The health care industry may have huge budget allocation but corruption is mainly creating negative impact to the health care system, thus everyone is affected. And for the newly licensed graduates the act of sacrifice is being demonstrated through "volunteerism" , it may not justifiable as at times this status is being abused by some superiors but this is the reality a newly Nurse must face these days...
