No you don't need a job to get a police check. I have heard it takes about 6 weeks.

As long as your police clearance is in progress, you're fine to interview. Employers will interview you, they just won't allow you to begin working without it.

yeah like the post before said ... you don't need a job to get a police clearance AND you get the clearance very fast as well.

Depends on the police station as well, in ottawa i was able to get it on the spot just had to pay a little extra

Maybe where you are but in some areas it can take a couple of weeks. Some detachments will do them quickly but at a surcharge if you don't live in that particular town. Edmonton used to take forever and St. Albert was pdq (for a fee). Haven't had to do one for a while, so it's probably changed.

Toronto takes weeks.

So is it possible to

1. Apply for RCMP Vulnerable sector check. ask RCMP to send it to me. then look for jobs?

thx

If you're in Toronto and willing to pay the extra money you can get cleared in 72 hours. Toronto Police Service :: To Serve and Protect
