Patient Assessment Course

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can take a patient/physical assessment course?

I've tried Humber, Seneca, Centennial, George Brown...any other ideas?

Just did a quick google search for patient assessment course in Ontario and Mohawk college comes up and is apparently recognised by CNO and you need to get a Current Certificate of registration or letter of direction from College of Nurses.

Health Assessment courses are offered through Ryerson University http://ce-online.ryerson.ca/ce_2010-2011/calendar/default.aspx?id=5&section=course&mode=course&ccode=CNUR%20816

it is offered at George Brown, what happened when you looked into George Brown?

I actually called them. and they said I think either they don't have it or it started in May and it's only once a year. but anyway, it's not available

Also, thank you for the Ryerson suggestion, but the course has already started there as well....:(

Any other ideas? please help me , I really could use this course

I know Nurses Education Inc. provides a physical assessment course for RN's and RPN's. Has anyone taken the course? If so would you recommend taking the course from them? Nurse Education Inc. is in Toronto by the way.

Nurses Education Inc is a private training centre and is not accredited. I encourage you to take the course from a community college that is accredited and is recognized as valid. Most employers, community colleges and universities do not view courses from private, unaccredited training centres as valid or reliable. Health assessment courses from unaccredited training centres look bad on resumes, the only resumes I have seen with these courses listed, have been from IENs who are naive about what employers are looking for.

Courses offered by nursinglinks are quite valid but not something to brag about. They are offered across most of Canada. They are great days out and update our basic education.

My employer permits us to attend them as part of our union provided education days. CLPNA will pay for the course under some of the grants available to LPNs.

Updated knowledge is great. I wouldn't put these on a resume but at interviews managers love to hear that you are keeping current.
