Has anybody taken an LPN to BSN online and successfully transferred to Ontario?

Hello! Honestly, I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the zero information available for acceptable nursing programs outside Canada that I could transfer to Ontario so Im looking for people who have been in similar situations to help with advice/outcomes/results.

I work as a LPN in NYS and have applied to work as an RPN in Ontario and the paperwork is still processing. I am also looking to obtain my BScN. In order to do this, I either 1) take FIVE years of college in Ontario to get the degree in Canada, or I 2) take the LPN to BScN online (U at Phoenix or something) and roll the dice if Ontario accepts it.

So my biggest, main-est question is: Has anyone graduated from an accredited online BScN program in the USA and successfully was able to work in Canada? ANY details would be greatly appreciated!! I don't know if the online course is a complete waste of time

Why would PN - BSN take you 5 years?

The PN-BSN program in my state is 4 years so that isn't far off.

PN education in Canada includes all the first year Arts electives the degree requires and many PN student have more transfer credits than required

"PN to BSN in Ontario only takes 3 years" Is that for Canadians or can internationally educated students do that sort of program too? I'm also licensed as an LPN in New York, but Ontario will not accept my credentials to sit for the RPN exam because when I did my program 12 years ago, it was a 1-year program. :( I have applied to Queen's University's BScN program. I have two options there. I applied for the advanced standing track (which doesn't take into account my nursing school, but requires 10 college courses, one being psychology and the other anatomy and physiology) and also the 'starting from scratch' 4-year program. I looked for online options, but only found Athabasca, which would require not only an Alberta LPN license, but also for me to spend 6 weeks in Alberta doing clinicals. This isn't possible for me. My only other option here in Kingston, ON is St. Lawrence, which has no advanced entry options whatsoever. 4 years only. :( I know that Indiana State University has an online LPN to BScN program, but I don't want to invest all that time and money just to be rejected by the CNO yet again. Jamiepoutine, I hope for your sake that your PN program was a 2 year one. Good luck!

@sdg, if you look at the admission criteria for the Ontario RPN-BScN programs, most schools require that RPN students are either registered or be eligible for registration with CNO.

Hi i tried to reply to ur private message but it said i wasnt allowed because im not active enough. But yeah im from the philippines and im a registered nurse so my process was different. It didnt take me long because i applied for rpn not rn. I knew they wouldnt accept me as rn here.

Hi sdg13, sorry since i can't use the private message, i have to reply here. that's good you're doing your rn, i want to be an rn here too but i can't find a school. its very competitive. so what kind of visa do you have? since new york is just an hour away then you can definitely work. so you're not working right now?if u r not registered as RPN you cant be hired as rpn.as for medical receptionist i think you can just keep looking around.when will u have your PR then?
