Thanks for the response! :) I am not really sure about it, i mean since i dont have much experience, and is applying for a job,,they would want someone who can already do it rather than someone who needs to be trained... so I was thinking if there's a refresher course or something,...but anyways,thank you!:)

Hello, this post might look silly but I really need to know~I'm a new grad,have very limited experience, and is looking for work. Is there a program/course where I can learn urinary catheterization and wound care? Or are they learned during your work? I mean, they're taught in school but if you haven't practice in real people and it took you forever to find a job, then there's a reason to upgrade/enhance skills. So I wonder if there's such things just like venipuncture courses. Please let me know! thanks=3 by the way, im from ontario. any info will help:)

it took me 7 months to get a job.and that job was something like sent from heaven. it's so hard ot find job these days even for experienced nurses.

Thanks for all your answers! It's really competitive in any field and its very frustrating to do extensive job searching. I modified every cover letter I sent, even my resume but never heard back from anyone. I'm afraid I'll be unemployed for a long time. I even considered working in a factory or something. They also prioritize internal applicants so chances are lessened plus online applications does not seem to be an advantage for people with little to no experience.

Hello! I have been looking for jobs since I left my previous job. One of my friends helped me submit my resume to her workplace. She was told that they do not hire unemployed and asked why I wasn't working. Has anyone experienced the same thing? I know networking is important to find a job, however, if they don't hire those who are not currently working then it means job opportunities are only available to those who already has a job. I don't know what to do and I have to explain why I left. I've been looking for jobs even before I left but never got any. Now, I didn't have a choice but to leave my previous job. Please help. Thanks.

Hi sdg13, sorry since i can't use the private message, i have to reply here. that's good you're doing your rn, i want to be an rn here too but i can't find a school. its very competitive. so what kind of visa do you have? since new york is just an hour away then you can definitely work. so you're not working right now?if u r not registered as RPN you cant be hired as rpn.as for medical receptionist i think you can just keep looking around.when will u have your PR then?

I have always been afraid to leave this work despite how miserable my situation is because I can't find a new job. I have been applying to online postings first because I'm not sure how else I can apply. I tried to apply once personally and I was turned down right away. I'm afraid I won't be able to find work soon.

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for replying to this thread! I already told my boss that I will be leaving in two weeks. I haven't found another job yet even though I started since February. I know it takes time but I believe walking away would be my best option. I think I've had enough to the point that I don't mind if I get fired or something. Not the ideal situation but I don't think I can come to work for another day. For the past month I've been having bad dreams about my job and I don't want to sleep anymore because it will be the next day in few hours and I have to drag myself to work. I feel like I gave up too easily but if I carry on, I might leave nursing for good. She has no plans in increasing my salary and my hours are a bit unstable so I think those are enough reasons to let go. anyway, I appreciate your comments! you helped me a lot to decide regarding my situation.

Hi i tried to reply to ur private message but it said i wasnt allowed because im not active enough. But yeah im from the philippines and im a registered nurse so my process was different. It didnt take me long because i applied for rpn not rn. I knew they wouldnt accept me as rn here.

But my employer paid for a workshop im about to attend. I cant just leave after she paid for it...

i know PSWs even without experience/certificate earn more than me. The boss wants me to carry more workload even if I'm not the one who is in charge of doing it. She won't pay me more but she wants me to do more stuff. I couldn't complain or refuse, since she does not clarify our roles. It's always changing and overlapping. I wonder what I should do.

Through your comments, I am now certain that I am being taken advantage of. Sometimes I don't want to tell other people that I am working as a nurse because they will be surprised that I am only paid that much. But I really find it hard to look for another job. So it might take a while. Anyway, thank you very much for your answers.
