Song lyrics that remind you of nursing...

Nurses Humor

Published

Every so often I'll hear lyrics on songs on the radio that remind me of nursing... Here's a couple of examples I've heard on the radio recently, unfortunately I can't remember who sings either of 'em...:monkeydance:

"I am barely breathing, and I can't find the air..."

"I have become, comfortably numb..."

Anyone got any more?

"Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen, released sometime during the Summer of 1980.

I remember it well, for I was doing my psych clinicals in the Adolecent Unit of a private psychiactric hospital at the time, and that song is ALL those kids ever played.

I never got so SICK of a song, in my life!! :lol_hitti

during my first BCLS class about 8 years ago, i had this really wacky instructor who said i did my compressions too fast. anyway, he said that a good way to pace yourself is to sing "another one bites the dust".. never forgot that one

THRICE LYRICS

"The Artist In The Ambulance"

Late night, brakes lock, hear the tires squeal

Red light, can't stop so I spin the wheel

My world goes black before I feel an angel lift me up

And I open bloodshot eyes into fluorescent white

They flip the siren, hit the lights, close the doors and I am gone

Now I lay here owing my life to a stranger

And I realize that empty words are not enough

I'm left here with the question of just

What have I to show except the promises I never kept?

I lie here shaking on this bed, under the weight of my regrets

[Chorus:]

I hope that I will never let you down

I know that this can be more than just flashing lights and sound

Look around and you'll see that at times it feels like no one really cares

It gets me down but I'm still gonna try to do what's right, I know that there's

A difference between sleight of hand, and giving everything you have

There's a line drawn in the sand, I'm working up the will to cross it and

[Chorus]

Rhetoric can't raise the dead

I'm sick of always talking when there's no change

Rhetoric can't raise the dead

I'm sick of empty words, let's lead and not follow

Late night, brakes lock, hear the tires squeal

Red light, can't stop so I spin the wheel

My world goes black before I feel an angel steal me from the

Greedy jaws of death and chance, and pull me in with steady hands

They've given me a second chance, the artist in the ambulance

[Chorus]

Can we pick you off the ground, more than flashing lights and sound

I heard this on the way home from clinicals today and it made me think of this thread:

A Better Man

(Clint Black - country music)

What do you say when it's over

I don't know if I should say anything at all

One day we're rollin' in the clover

Next thing you know we take the fall

Still, I think about the years since I first met you

And the way it might have been without you here

And I don't know if words from me can still upset you

But I've just gotta make this memory stand clear

I know I'm leavin' here a better man

For knowin' you this way

Things I couldn't do before, now I think I can

And I'm leavin here a better man

I guess I always knew I couldn't hold you

But I'd never be the one to set you free

Just like some old nursery rhyme your mama told you

You still believe in some old meant-to-be

Still I'm leavin' here a better man

For knowin' you this way

Things I couldn't do before, now I think I can

And I'm leavin' here a better man

Yes I'm leavin' here a better man

For knowin' you this way

Things I couldn't do before, now I know I can

And I'm leavin' here a better man

Yes I'm leavin' here a better man

The song "Bad Day" comes to mind, especially after a Code Brown. When it comes on the radio at work, my RN, CNA and I start singing.

are you sure that is what the song is called because she produced songs in Spanish?

You're perhaps too young to remember that she's been around the scene long since before you were born and had many English language hits, both as Gloria Estafan and "Miami Sound Machine". I think Rhythm is Gonna Get You is from her Miami Sound Machine days which started prior to your birth. Lately all she's done is Spanish albums, but she's had a lot of hits.

She was just on Dancing with the Stars this week singing this exact song (in English, lol).....I remember her debut with this song and the Sound Machine on one of the early morning shows many years ago.....

Her last English hit though was quite a few years ago and her last few albums have been Spanish language only. Kind of makes you feel old that someone who lives in Miami doesn't even know she ever sang in English. :lol2:
