Song lyrics that remind you of nursing...

Published

Every so often I'll hear lyrics on songs on the radio that remind me of nursing... Here's a couple of examples I've heard on the radio recently, unfortunately I can't remember who sings either of 'em...:monkeydance:

"I am barely breathing, and I can't find the air..."

"I have become, comfortably numb..."

Anyone got any more?

Pink - Making me Ill - cannot remember the exact lyric, but talks about life support and morphine making the singer sick, and the nurses being bit$$es. I do like it!!!

Yes, it's Pink, "Just Like a Pill"....I LOVE this song and don't ask me why. I'm 50+ and it's kind of sick, but there's just something I like about this girl and her voice and music:

I'm lyin' here on the floor where you left me

I think I took too much

I'm crying here, what have you done?

I thought it would be fun

I can't stay on your life support, there's a shortage in the switch,

I can't stay on your morphine, cuz its making me itch

I said I tried to call the nurse again but she's being a little b!#ch,

I think I'll get outta here, where I can

Run just as fast as I can

To the middle of nowhere

To the middle of my frustrated fears

And I swear you're just like a pill

Instead of makin' me better, you keep makin' me ill

You keep makin' me ill

(Etc., etc....)

When I walk into the room of my favorite little confused elderly lady patient who likes to strip down to her birthday suit, I hear the beginning of the old song " It's My Party" "...Nobody knows where my Johnny has gone..."

I just thought of 2 more! " I've Got You Under My Skin" for the patient afflicted with scabies and for those who suffer from hemorrhoids there's Johnny Cash's "Ring Of Fire"

Stone Temple Pilots "Creep"

Take time with a wounded hand

'Cause it likes to heal

Take time with a wounded hand

Guess I like to steal

Take time with a wounded hand

'Cause it likes to heal, I like to steal

I'm half the man I used to me

This I feel as the dawn

It fades to gray

"Kryptonite"- Three Doors Down

It's not really nursing related.. but this specific part reminds me of nursing..

You called me strong, you called me weak

But your secrets I will keep

You took for granted all the times I

Never let you down

You stumbled in and bumped your head, if

Not for me then you would be dead

I picked you up and put you back

On solid ground

Stone Temple Pilots "Creep"

Take time with a wounded hand

'Cause it likes to heal

Take time with a wounded hand

Guess I like to steal

Take time with a wounded hand

'Cause it likes to heal, I like to steal

I'm half the man I used to me

This I feel as the dawn

It fades to gray

ohh yea, and "Stayin' Alive" - the Beegees. It's 70's music, but I looovvveee that song!

I like this song becuase that is what nurses have to do- keep their pts alive....

Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother,

you're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.

Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin',

and we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.

Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.

Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive.

Pearl Jam "Lightning Crashes"

Lightning crashes

A new mother cries

Her placenta falls to the floor

The angel opens her eyes

The confusion sets in

Before the doctor can

Even close the door

Lightning crashes

An old mother dies

Her intentions fall to the floor

The angel closes her eyes

The confusion that was hers

Belongs now to the

Baby down the hall

Oh, now feel it

Coming back again

Like a rolling thunder

Chasing the wind

Forces pulling from the

Center of the earth again

I can feel it

Lightning crashes

A new mother cries

This moment she`s

Been waiting for

The angel opens her eyes

Pale blue colored eyes

Presents the circle

Puts the glory out to hide, hide

Oh, now feel it

Coming back again

Like a rolling thunder

Chasing the wind

Forces pulling from the

Center of the earth again

I can feel it, I can feel it...

U2 "If God Will Send His Angels" I like to play this song after a shift when I had a particularly upsetting patient situation such as a young terminal cancer patient, or an unsuccessful code or whatever... I turn it up to ear-splitting volume and sing along with it all the way home.

Hey if God will send his angels

And if God will send a sign

And if God will send his angels

Would everything be alright

That song is by the band Live. Good song. Makes me think of why I don't do OB.
