Revenge Can Sometimes Lead to a Sticky Situation

  1. 12 A motorcycle patrolman was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed appendix.

The doctors operated and advised him that all was well. However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling at the hairs on his chest. Worried that it might be second surgery the doctors hadn't told him about, he finally got enough energy to pull his hospital gown down enough so he could look at what was making him so uncomfortable.

Taped firmly across his hairy chest were three wide strips of adhesive tape, the kind that doesn't come off easily. Written in large black letters was the sentence.

"Get well quick..... from the nurse you gave a ticket to last week."

I got stopped and ticketed in the middle of the night once as I was hurrying to the PICU for incoming MVA traumas from an outlying hospital. 2 days later I admitted the officer's 15month old son with epiglottitis, also in the middle of the night following a speedy trip to the hospital.
The officer did not remember me until I reminded him of our chance meeting, after things were settled a bit. The next day he brought the original of my speeding ticket to the PICU and tore it up in front of me.

Keep a crash bag visible with a stethoscope and a pair of gloves laid across it and you might never get a "routine" ticket. (Routine: A bit out of inspection or a bit over the speed limit)

I swear that there is a bit of fear in every officer's mind that it might be your face he/she's staring into at the hospital upon wakening.

And let's face it, if you even have a rudimentary crash back in your car you may someday be a valuable person to have around.

Hmmm, as the wife of a LEO, I'm torn as to whether or not I want to laugh!
