Please tell me I am not crazy

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I recently had to cancel a screening interview with a large hospital in order to complete a commitment for nursing school.

Please reassure me that I made the right decision. I am so sad that I had to cancel a dream job opportunity but school does come first :arghh:

Don't put the carriage before the horse, sweetie.

Yeah I agree, which is why I cancelled the interview

but I am so sad

the job market where I am is veryvery competitive and many of my friends didn't get an interview at this place either :crying2:

I am so down. I feel like I am going to be poor and unemployed and have to relocate to a distant state :crying2:

Not very many people got interviews before graduation in my class and I was one of the lucky few who did. :nurse:

I could have lied and said that I was sick and gone to the interview but I do not believe in lying and my conscious would be bothering me :arghh:

lol I like these smileys sorry for overusing them :lurking::alien:

LOL---

I can relate, BUT...

This is a high-stress time for you, and you can't afford to put too much energy into wondering "WHAT IF?" right now

Did you reschedule??

Did you reschedule??

No

They didn't let me :(

They said this is the only day they are available.

:arghh: There is no way I could make it there without lying to someone

And I don't lie.

yeah I have been worrying about the job market since September and even tried to apply to jobs in September, which was 9 months before graduation.

I believe many things happen for a reason. I agreed to pick up a shift to help out at my current job because no one else could do it. THEN I found out about a job fair that same day for a hospital I've been trying to get into for months. I'm at peace sticking with what I committed to doing because I know it's the right thing right now. There will be other opportunities.

Yeah.

my mom told me doing the right thing isn't always easy.

but for some people it takes over a year to get a job

You honoured your commitment and the hospital wouldn't honour that and work with you. You did the right thing. Don't waste time wondering "what if". You don't always realize you've dodged a bullet until long after you've dodged it.
