It's been two years. Still unemployed in the state of Florida!

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I graduated in May of 2012 with my BSN and passed the boards in July of the same year. Since then, two years, I haved applied to numerous amount of jobs throughout South Florida as well as Central Florida and has had no luck whatsoever. I have applied to hospitals, nursing homes, health clinics, correctional facilities, home health agencies and still nothing. I have been to at lease 6 interviews which went well, but I got rejected all 6 times because they chose some one with experience. A few of my former colleagues from nursing school, who are all working as RNs now try to get me in at their jobs and that too was unsuccessful. I don't get how these employers are seeking someone with experience but not willing to give a new grad an opportunity to gain that experience; we all have to start from somewhere. I am desperate to begin my career and so over the fact that these employers are looking for someone with experience. I am tired emotiinally, physically and mentally. I currently reside in Miami, FL and is in need of an employment opportunity. Please help, if possible.

You may need to consider relocating. Expand your Job Search. After a year or two on the job, you will probably be able to land something back home. Good luck.

Perhaps heading back to school for a masters (NP?) might be worth considering. I am so sorry for the rotten luck you've had so far. I hope you're able to find your way to a path to success.

All HCA hospitals have new grad programs and most are not posted. You will have to call the hospitals or go in person. I know someone that got into a new grad program even though she graduated 2 years ago so it is possible. If all else fails consider relocating up north Florida or out of state. I was considering that and go call backs from Florida hospital and largo medical all up north before I received an offer down here in south Florida.

I have a coworker and a friend that relocated to ND from Florida. Have you thought about Alabama?
