Does LPN experience count towards RN experience as a ADN new grad??

Sorry if this question has been asked and answered previously. I looked to see if it had and couldn't find anything. So I've been an LPN since March 2010. I worked at a SNF from April 2010 - Oct 2011 and Registry at another SNF from Jun 2012 - Jan 2013. Finished my ADN program in May 2013, took and passed the NCLEX on 7/31/13, and am still waiting on my license (Illinois takes forever:sour:). My question is will my LPN experience be counted as "nursing experience" when I apply for hospital/nursing jobs and help towards landing a job as an RN or will I just be seen as a new grad with no relevant experience??? Thanks.

It may not have the same weight as RN experience, but it will definitely put you a step ahead of APN with zero experience.

That depends on the facility.Any worth working for would take into consideration your years as an LPN.

I know as a new grad.. I could always count on the LPN's for their knowledge.

There is no standard approach to this issue. Employers are free to determine their own policies. My organization applies a 50% conversion factor for LVN experience (e.g., 1 yr of LVN experience = 6 months RN experience) in order to calculate the appropriate salary for an experienced nurse. New grads are all started at the same new salary. Just re-read that and it seems confusing even for me. Your HR department will be able to explain it much better.
