Dec 2011 Graduates

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi,

I wanted to let you guys know I finally got my first RN position. The offer came in today. For all the new graduates still struggling, please keep trucking away. I know it is very difficult out there and stressful. But I wanted to share to give you hope that they are still hiring Dec 2011 graduates :)

Congrats! I'm a Dec. 11 Grad still looking like crazy. (Washington state) It's incredibly discouraging and seems like it will never happen. Here's hoping for the rest of us!

Thanks Lioh, i was on allchildrens website yesterday nd just now, i didnt find anything for the residency programs, i swear i have no idea how anyone finds these things out. i will have to use the Times, instead of the Net.

SarahB84, on All Children's main page, click on the employment link in the menu on the left. That will open a sub-menu underneath the employment link. One of the options will be for the pediatric RN residency program.

Specializes in Critical Care.

I am a Dec 2011 grad as well, and I previously lived in Ohio, have since moved to SC for my first RN job. I sent out 250 resumes, all over the southeast, and last month *finally* landed a job in SC. If anyone would be willing to relocate and transfer their license to SC, I would recommend applying to the Grand Strand Medical Center, Waccamaw and Conway hospitals, all are located in the Myrtle Beach area. They are hiring!!! Good luck to everyone! Keep your chins up:)

omg 250 resumes.........you are a tough cookie to move all that way. i wish you the very best, you deserve it!

Thanks Lioh, i found it with your help :) they want three letters from teachers, sheesh, i tried to stay out of my teachers way and just do my job very well, i for sure will not be asking them for letters. i'll keep looking, LOL

I also am a Dec 2011 grad, (Indiana) and I have had 2 interviews at hospitals. Both for night shifts, but one I am very hopeful for..maternity services. I would love to do NICU. I also loved peds. The other seems to have an awesome nurse manager and team, it is a med surg floor..good hospital. However I still havnt heard from the hosp jobs, so I accepted a job at the nursing home starting monday! If the hospital calls tho, I will have a big decision to make. btw, nrsg home is FT, days. I needed to start working, plus dont know if I will get the acute jobs or not!

Congrats on your new job!!

Thanks, I did apply to a ton of JOBS! And even had 9 interviews at random places nursing homes, doctor offices, psych ward, daycare. And finally I got a job that I wanted in pediatrics at an office :) Honestly hang in tight, and apply to different sites I got the most interviews from craigslist just as a heads up. Hang in there!

December 2011 grad (CA). Hard as heck to get anything out here. I have a family and there are no options for relocating. It's frustrating. Residency programs are pretty much only taking BSNs and few at that. Enrolled in an RN-BSn program now, but it looks like I will HAVE to have my BSN to even be considered.

Will keep trying.

I got the maternity job!!:w00t:

I should add tho tht its 11p-11a..hope I can handle the hrs! # days a week so I think Ill figure it out...eventually!

Specializes in Psyche RN.

Congradulations......!!!!! I got a psyche Nurse job!! I guess things are looking up......

Hi,

I graduated in december 11, passed boards in march and I have been putting in applications everywhere, ( Orlando, Tampa, Jville, Tallahassee, Clermont), been on four interviews, no call backs yet. I even applied at nursing homes, home health majority in jacksonville. At this piont I am so discouraged. I feel like a loser. Starting to give up
