Nurses Share Your Empowering Scriptures :)

Nurses Spirituality

Published

Hello allnurses :)

I can't tell you how happy I am that this forum has been created. I'm still learning my way around since the upgrade.

I was hoping the Christian nurses on this site could post some of the scriptures they read that has helped them in the hospital, school, clinicals ect. The power of prayer and reading certain scriptures have empowered me through nursing school & in my new career. I also encourage us to pray not only for one another, but for our patients, managers, administrators, and those that try to do us harm as this is my new commitment this year.

So I will start.........

Mark 11:24- "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, & ye shall have them." (KJV)

I read this scripture everyday & wrote it on my white board while preparing for the NCLEX :)

Matthew 5:44 " But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully persecute you." (KJV)

Matthew 5:46- " For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? (" (KJV)

I'm guilty of praying mostly for those I love, but my new mission is to devote more prayer to those I don't know very well & even people that mean me harm. Its easy to pray for those I love. This is great when dealing with a difficult co-worker/ patient :)

Galatians 6:17 "From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus." (KJV)

Another member of allnurses.com referred me to this scripture, this is my new favorite scripture :)

I hope these scriptures empower someone else as they have done in my life. I look forward to reading some that encourage other nurses and being encouraged :)

Matthew 7:1-2

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

That sucker has kept me off a high horse for many a day. It's humbling and yet freeing at the same time.

Matthew 7:1-2

Zephaniah 3:17 NLT

For the lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."

Malachi 3:17 KJVA

And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

John 14:16-17 NLT

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

Romans 12:14-16 NLT

Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don't be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all!

Psalm 23:6 MSG

Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I'm back home in the house of God for the rest of my life.

Psalms 23:6 NLT

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the lord forever.

1 Samuel 25:6 NLT

"Peace and prosperity to you, your family, and everything you own!

Psalms 91:7 NLT

Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.

1 Samuel 2:8 NLT

He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the lord 's, and he has set the world in order.

Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the

tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!

"For God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and a sound mind." As one who flies frequently, I can't tell you how many times this verse has been of great comfort. Since God doesn't give fear, I can reject the one who does and relax and enjoy my flight. Another one: "So do not fear, for I am with you. Neither be dismayed, for I am the Lord your God. I will strengthen you, and help you, and uphold you with my righteous right hand." And, another: "I will give you treasures of darkness and riches stored in secret places so that you will know it I, the Lord, God of Israel Who summons you by name." This is Is. 43:5 (I think---I don't have access to my Bible right now), or Is. 45:3. It was "given" to me right after my husband died by two friends who had found it to be of great comfort to them during times of trials. And, He has, and continues to, give me "treasures of darkness".

Psalm 61:1-3

Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.

Some of these you'd need to do some hermeneutical gymnastics to make them about nursing, but they give me encouragement for life in general! :)

2 Timothy 4:6-8 (ESV)

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.

Hebrews 11:35-12:2 (ESV)

Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 Corinthians 13 (William Tyndale's translation, the most beautiful of all Bible translation, in my opinion, and one of the most beautiful passages in all of Scripture!)

Though I spake with tongues of me and angels and yet had no love I were eve as soundinge brasse or as a tynklynge Cymball. And though I coulde prophesy and vnderstode all secretes and all knowledge: yee yf I had all fayth so that I coulde move moutayns oute of ther places and yet had no love I were nothynge. And though I bestowed all my gooddes to fede ye poore and though I gave my body even that I burned and yet had no love it profeteth me nothinge. Love suffreth longe and is corteous. Love envieth not. Lo doth not frowardly swelleth not dealeth not dishonestly seketh not her awne is not provoked to anger thynketh not evyll reioyseth not in iniquite: but reioyseth in yet trueth suffer all thynge beleveth all thynges hopeth all thynges endureth in all thynges. Though that prophesyinge fayle other tongues shall cease or knowledge vanysshe awaye yet love never falleth never awaye. For oure knowledge is vnparfect and oure prophesyinge is vnperfet. But when yt which is parfect is come then yt which is vnparfet shall be done awaye. When I was a chylde I spake as a chylde I vnderstode as a childe I ymagened as a chylde. But assone as I was a man I put away childesshnes. Now we se in a glasse even in a darke speakynge: but then shall we se face to face. Now I knowe vnparfectly: but then shall I knowe even as I am knowen. Now abideth fayth hope and love even these thre: but the chefe of these is love.

Revelation 21:3-4 (ESV--back to 21st century!) This is my go-to verse when human suffering starts to grieve my heart

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."

Psalm 46:1-3 (ESV)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

And, I needed to see every single one of these this day. I love the way our Father provides someone who can be a vessel of His use, in every situation. Sometimes, I am simply overwhelmed by His endless, undeserved goodness. Thank you!

Always.

Romans 1:16-17

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.

Psalm 59:1 Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;

Defend me from those who rise up against me.

Psalm 57:1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!

For my soul trusts in You;

And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,

Until these calamities have passed by.
