Nurses Share Your Empowering Scriptures :)

Nurses Spirituality

Published

Hello allnurses :)

I can't tell you how happy I am that this forum has been created. I'm still learning my way around since the upgrade.

I was hoping the Christian nurses on this site could post some of the scriptures they read that has helped them in the hospital, school, clinicals ect. The power of prayer and reading certain scriptures have empowered me through nursing school & in my new career. I also encourage us to pray not only for one another, but for our patients, managers, administrators, and those that try to do us harm as this is my new commitment this year.

So I will start.........

Mark 11:24- "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, & ye shall have them." (KJV)

I read this scripture everyday & wrote it on my white board while preparing for the NCLEX :)

Matthew 5:44 " But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully persecute you." (KJV)

Matthew 5:46- " For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? (" (KJV)

I'm guilty of praying mostly for those I love, but my new mission is to devote more prayer to those I don't know very well & even people that mean me harm. Its easy to pray for those I love. This is great when dealing with a difficult co-worker/ patient :)

Galatians 6:17 "From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus." (KJV)

Another member of allnurses.com referred me to this scripture, this is my new favorite scripture :)

I hope these scriptures empower someone else as they have done in my life. I look forward to reading some that encourage other nurses and being encouraged :)

I work in a PICU. Unfortunately, there are a lot of cases that do not make it, and sadly, this has been the rough summer for me as far as deaths have gone. In the past 3 months, I have been the nurse for a 13 yof who died from AN EAR INFECTION gone awry, 2 cranies - 1 13 yof, & 1 2yom, 2 child abuse cases - 1 was 2 mos, 1 20 mos, a DS/cardiac 8 month baby that had been on support for 4 months and was getting worse - parents (only 17 years old) decided to withdraw support, and 1 14 yof suicide attempt that only wanted to see if her mom loved her or not (her and brother are physically abused/neglect), so that was the most tragic of all the tragedies.

Also, 1 of the patients I had cared for in the spring and got very close to the family (cardiac baby) passed away and I went to her funeral.

So - what gets me through all of these horrible times and I still know that God is compassionate and gives me great joy? The verse from Isaiah 57:1. This verse says: "The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil."

This is what makes me not have to ask, "WHY?"

This is the verse that carried me through nursing school and I still read it before I start my day at work! Romans 8:28 " And we know that in all things, GOD works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." It's just a great reminder that he is always watching over us & has great plans for our lives.
