1. We use Sensicare (Red cap), it's super thick & so moisturizing. It literally will cling to her bottom and help a lot. We have had patients with terrible diaper rash and it tends to work really well.
2. My mom is an NNP and I can honestly say that if you're looking to get weekends off & be there for your child, a career as a NNP would not be the best. My mom had to work 24 hour shifts & rotating weekends as an NNP. Best of luck to you!
3. Hey!! I'm in the DFW area too! I knew I wanted to do Pediatrics when I had my leadership clinical in adult oncology (absolutely hated taking care of adult patients who didn't want to take any responsibility...& I also hated wiping butts ). I was really drawn to the fact that pedi patients are sick & they can't communicate with you when they are sick. I also get CPS babies (which breaks my heart) but I love that I get to advocate for them, give them the best care possible & just love on them because they really need it. I have a friend who works as a C-section nurse & she loves it because any birth experience could become a c-section birth at any given time. I also had a friend who right after graduation, got a job as a ICU RN & left it because it was really overwhelming for her as a new grad RN. I think labor & delivery would be a fun specialty to go into. Good luck! Wish you the best in whatever you chose.
4. My aunt is an FNP and she was in a similar situation like yours. I would recommend that you work for a year before you apply for other jobs. It's probably not the advice you want to hear but it may be to your benefit since employers like to see that you stuck it out at one place for a while before jumping to the next job. My aunt worked for a year and after, started applying for jobs & ended up finding one at another family medicine clinic & she found out that she really enjoyed it! Good luck!
5. Hmm...Is your hair sweeping the floor? If so, then you might have to possibly cut your hair since it could be a safety/tripping hazard. I do have to say, that this scenario is quite uncommon. I would ask fellow nurses and check facility policy on whether or not they can tell you to cut your hair.
6. That's awesome!! Congrats! What school did you graduate from?
7. 1) Lack of respect from family members from family members. 2) Poor management treating us like slaves.
8. I don't see why they can't work as an aide. There were times when we had 1 too many nurses on staff & one of them became a resource nurse. We love being resource nurse because it's so easy. Think about it, you get paid like a nurse to work a lot less & practically sit around for the shift just charting vitals & helping out with admission..etc.
9. This is the verse that carried me through nursing school and I still read it before I start my day at work! Romans 8:28 " And we know that in all things, GOD works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." It's just a great reminder that he is always watching over us & has great plans for our lives.
10. Anyone possibly applying? Please let me know! Any past graduates? Any advice regarding application process, interviews, resume? All suggestions/helpful topics are welcome. I am hoping to get into their PNP program :)
