Looking to connect with other Christian nurses

Nurses Spirituality

Published

Hi everyone,

My name is Suzie. I am a registered nurse in Pensacola, Florida. Nursing has been my heart and passion more and sometimes less since the mid 1990's. I have worked in the acute care hospital setting since then. I have a wandering spirit, so I have experience in most areas of adult care.

I expected Jesus Christ as my Savior as a young adult, years before becoming a nurse. Initially, I did not feel "called" into nursing, but soon began to realize my potential to serve as Christ's ambassador to the sick and dying. Although, I have to be honest and say that my feelings regarding my nursing career have not always been "blissful." I have been, like many other nursing colleagues, tapped dry by the realities of our profession. THANKFULLY, I allowed the Lord to refresh my spirit and regained a renewed perspective on our blessed profession and my opportunity to serve.

In 2006, I founded a nursing ministry organization. Since then, I, along with many of my nursing friends, have pursued a variety of activities aimed at encouraging other nurses and serving local and global communities.

I am currently in school pursuing a graduate degree in nursing education at Walden University online. I am enjoying this experience very much as it expanding my knowledge and perspective regarding patient care and nursing professional issues.

I live in Pensacola, Florida with my husband, Michael. We have four grown children and a precious granddaughter.

I am looking forward to connecting with nurses of the Christian faith from around the world.

Blessings!

Suzie

P.S. I also updated my profile and social media info if you are interested.

Hi Suzie,

Regardless of the fact if I am a Christian or not, I think that this is not the most appropriate forum to extend your personal belief. I just wish that people would not be so fanatic about their faith that they lose all sense of appropriateness and push their agenda for proselytizing in a nursing forum.

Hi Suzie:)

I am a nursing student and I think that its amazing that you are such a strong Christian who loves the Lord and who desires to spread the love of Christ to others through your work. I know that it might be hard because you might experience some resistance from those who do not belive in the Lord, but I think its important to, as Christians, not get discouraged when doing the Lord's work. Many times, I am not pushing my faith on others, but simply praying for them when they request and being kind in the way Jesus would require. Thanks for starting this blog to reach out to other Christian Nurses:)

Perhaps this is a good thread for you to avoid then...

See someone is always trying to come in & be negative & whatnot Suzie started this thread under the "Spirituality & Nursing" tab & while that doesn't mean only Christianity she specifically said she wanted to connect with other Christian nurses no hidden agenda && as Christians we are supposed to be "frantic" about our faith

My God is an awesome God and any chance I get to share what he's done for me or what I've seen him do for others I'm gonna do it u should def. chill & YOU are in the wrong tab!!!

I'm not tryin to throw shade BUT if u clearly see the title says "trying to connect with other Christians" or something to that nature & u are against that why click on it? To be mean? To make it seem like ur sooo much better because ur belief is different? If u don't believe there should be a part of the forum where the religious beliefs of nurses can connect u should take that up with admin. But for now Suzie was just tryin to be nice and connect with other nurses which is what this forum is supposed to be about

If I sound rude I apologize

Hi Suzie.

Nice to meet you (and all of the other nurses here). :) I have been a Christian since I was 15 years old (now 40 years old).

Hi Suzie,

I just wish that people would not be so fanatic about their faith that they lose all sense of appropriateness and push their agenda for proselytizing in a nursing forum.

actually, you clicked the "nursing and spirituality forum", lol. and i don't think she is trying to convert anybody--she is looking to speak "with fellow christian nurses" to share with... ;) nothing here about preaching to people who aren't already christian. THAT would be against the TOS, i believe!

probably the confusion is related to the fact that this thread also shows up on the most liked nursing topics of the day, and people don't know much about the existence of this forum to begin with...? seems like that is what happened.

anywho, welcome to allnurses, Suzie!!

Thank you everyone. I am glad to know there are so many other like minded nurses out there. Our Christian faith birthed our profession; on that we can stand firm and together.

Bless you and guys/gals.

Hello all. I ended up reading these posts as they were "liked" on our home page. Please forgive my questions, as I am not a nurse yet, I hope to start school in the fall. I am not religious, but respect those who are. Does religion come up more because of the field you are all in, or do most people keep it private? I am not sure what to say to patients or families if this topic comes up?

Thanks :)

Hey everyone!! I too am a born again Christian. And I do feel that being a nurse is part of a service to God! I don't get to attend church every week either and was often bothered by this but my father is a pastor and he reminded me of where even Jesus healed the sick and afflicted on the sabbath day!! Susie I would love to meet in person one day!! While I don't live in Pensacola anymore but all my extended family still lives there and I am there often!! It is always nice to hear about other Christians working in the nursing field!

Hello Suzie!

#1 Believer here!!!!!! Welcome!!

Specializes in Orthopaedics, ITU and Critical Care Outr.

I am a nurse, and have recently come to Christianity.

In response to a question further up, I tend to keep it quiet (I'd hate to attempt to evangelise with the wrong person!) but am just beginning to get braver, and to proclaim my faith amongst co-workers.
