Would anyone post in it? :clown: I looked forward to being a nurse for so long....my second thoughts aren't because of nurses eating their own (I have never seen that!) or hours or mean docs (haven't seen that either)... it... Read More

"LIBTARD"? Never heard that before. justaShooter, it sounds like you consider Every liberal mentally challenged. Now that IS offensive.

Regardless of the country where you cast your vote, or which political party you support, once your political debate degenerates to offensive name-calling, you yourself should be regarded as an offense by the very party you claim to support.

I would hope that every conservative supporter would be justly incensed by such denigrating labels, justashooter. Such comments bring your party into disrepute.

Justashooter, I'm a staunch conservative also and disagree with virtually everything our federal government is doing, but I have to agree with some of the previous posters who called you out on using the term, "libtard". It's not constructive and does not help us in trying to get our points across.

If we don't want to be called "mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging rethuglicans", than we we have to keep it civil too.

"Older" nursing school student here. Junior (1st semester of final 4 almost over - yeah!! in BSN program ... Registered Republican with policital views that are libertarian-conservative (prefer small government & preservation of individual liberties) ... Really glad to see some conservatives here, b/c I can't help but feeling that the curriculum at school is pretty obviously liberal and so, sometimes feel a little bit "alone" ... All that said, I really do think that all viewpoints have something to contribute to a conversation, even though my personal positions are usually unchanged.

Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains. - Sir Winston Churchill

If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile-driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous shock. - Winston Churchill

A nation that tries to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle. - Winston Churchill

Americans can always be counted upon to do the right thing - after all other possibilities have been exhausted. - Winston Churchill

I am a liberal but I also agree with others about being able to discuss topics and hear from both sides. Often I tell other conservative nurses that we can only agree to disagree on hot topics. I may not agree with others ideology but I always enjoy a good discussion

I have the greatest regard for Sir Winston, and he was undoubtedly an extremely wise and witty man; I too like to quote him. But you can't embrace his sayings as being the ultimate source of wisdom.

Pure Conservatism tends to be intolerant. Pure Liberalism tends to be weak. Pure Socialism is a recipe for disaster and pure Capitalism has the potential for destruction of a world war. Even Sir Winston saw the need for a balance; read the highlighted line carefully.

So far, no democratic system has got it perfectly right, to balance the needs of the poor against the need for economic prosperity. To address the upliftment of those living in poverty it may be necessary to employ Socialist methods. To ensure sustainable growth it is necessary to promote business development and entrepreneurship. Allowing Big Business to pursue maximum profits while outsourcing manufacturing to 3rd world countries is the mark of idiocy.

I have said before in this thread, bless those who hold opposing views to your own, and respect them. The model for governance you uphold is not perfect, and neither is theirs. Somewhere between the two lies the balance. Instead of insulting the opposition, be grateful that your democracy is strong enough that it is possible to change the government if they don't perform. The alternative - trust me on this - is not one you would care for.

I'm pretty conservative. I do respect other peoples thoughts and I appreciate mine being respected as well.
