Anyone ever had a celebrity as a patient or a celebrity in your place of work? Please share any information if possible. Did you experience any problems because they were there? ie. fans, phone calls, etc

Meh, a few. (Or kids of a few.) I'm not easily impressed. Only problem I've had is the very negative impression I got of someone that's quite idolized. When people are rambling on about how great he is, it's soooo hard to keep my mouth shut about what a loser he truly is.
Ok, now my nosy self is DYING to know who this is haha
I took care of an extremely well known country music performer. This person had no entourage, only a very good friend that stayed with them the whole time. Their spouse didn't even come in! The hospital treated this person very differently than any other patient, but we are not exactly "hospital of the stars" here in Nashville so I guess we could afford to do that. They would send food service staff to the grocery store to get anything this person would ask for instead of telling them we didn't have it that day! All the other nurses BEGGED me to go in there to do one thing or the other: "Let me give them meds, I'll tell them you were busy with another patient!" (yeah right.) But no issues with anyone from outside trying to find them. It was certainly an experience I wish I could share with my friends! Unreal! I never thought going to nursing school I would have a famous patient.
I heard Nicole Kidman gave her L&D nurses at Baptist goodie bags with Coach purses in them...probably just a rumor though.
I have taken care of the mothers of two stars. The stars weren't there. Other family members were. They were both nice and didn't expect any extra special service.
I have also taken care of a couple VIPs. I would rather trade them away to other nurses. It makes me too nervous and since I grew up in a town with a lot of stars in it I am not easily impressed anyway.
Just give me the homeless junkie from under the bridge so I can give them some TLC.
VIPs make me feel nervous and my small hospital doesn't get celebrities though I have cared for some ceo's admin in my time and they were gracious and down to earth. Still wouldn't want to work at someplace like Mayo that gets VIPs from around the world, I'd feel like I was walking on eggshells. More shy quiet personality, not outgoing, I do envy those outgoing sociable people that everybody likes.
I have never understood what the attraction to celebrities is about. I don't think I'd like to take care of one just because they're a celebrity, it's bad enough being made to kowtow to the hospital big wigs and/or all their lineage when they're admitted. I love taking care of everyone (equally)but I tend to suck at butt-kissing...
Taken care of a couple local celebrities; both were extremely nice, unassuming, very down-to-earth. I liked them both a whole lot.
I did give the relative of someone whose name everyone here would recognize his very first bath. No sightings, though. But that's about it....which is fine, honestly.

They have a separate VIP floor here at Mayo. Us normal people don't have to worry about walking into a celebrity's room! The rooms up there are huge and look more like a hotel room than a hospital room. They have extra security and everything so people don't wander over there. If it's a royal family that has the floor, they usually post their own security too, so it can get a little ridiculous.
It seems a little silly to me to have these huge, expensive rooms available, but I'm sure they make a lot of money from it.
Not as a nurse, but as a Medical Assistant working in a doctor's office, I had a couple of celebrity encounters.
One was a well known author, but he was a jerk. He would come in self-advertising his books, and he tended to assume everyone kissed the ground he walked on. In reality, no one looked forward to his visits due to his arrogance.
Another was a local celebrity who actually seemed a little surprised that I recognized him. He was very humble and down-to-earth. I actually felt bad after I told him I knew who he was (I was a big fan) since he seemed a bit embarrassed.
i took care of a well known actor after his elective back surgery. He was under an alias, so i didn't realize who he was until i went to assess him, as my reporting nurse forgot to mention it (talk about high hipaa security!). Very nice, kept to himself and sent awesome chocolates to the unit after he was discharged!!
