Nurses Recovery

Well folks it's been a long hard climb from what I thought was the ashes of my career, but today 12 years after getting sober 7 years after completing a diversion program I feel I have finally made it back. Just finishing my BSN and last week got headhunted into the nursing job of my dreams and for real grown-up career type pay. I have kept my head down and humbly worked my program even when I didn't have to anymore and it's paying off big time. For those of you just starting out this recovery sobriety journey all I can say is Gid Gid Ya and keep on trudging.

Congrats! Thank you for sharing hope with us. I'm 6 months into 5 years of probation with 3 1/2 years clean and sober. It's wonderful to hear positive things showing hard work does pay off.

Great news!! Congratulations! I've been following you a bit. You seem to always be in a good place in your head. I've just started in a 5 year monitoring program for diversion in NJ. I didn't even know what that was two months ago. It really gives me hope to see you doing so well and having successfully completed the program. I don't know your whole story but from what I've gleaned it sounds similar to mine. Finding it hard to relate to the people in my group and meetings.

InHisArms- I don't know your story, but welcome to the recovery world. Things tend to fall into place as the months go on. Even if 12 step programs don't work for you (not everyone does well with the same carbon copy recovery program) you'll find others there that you can relate to, given enough time. I've been able to take what I need and want from AA and leave the rest at the door. I've built some awesome relationships with folks that I never would have met otherwise. So glad you made it here alive :)!

Thank you for posting such positive things! I'm just starting my recovery journey and am quite overwhelmed by it all. You truly are an inspiration of how things can look at the end of my 2 year contract
