Hi, i really enjoyed every thread here.. I can see how helpful this site has been! Kudos to everyone!

My question is this: does application for reciprocity different from application for license by endorsement?

I am a RN with IL state license, and i wish to work here in MO. somebody told that i could apply for a reciprocity, if this is right, how can i apply?

To endorse from one state to another you still have to meet requirements so should list something on the relevant state. NCLEX exam has reciprocity but if not from a compact state or moving to live in a new state you still need to get a license

So, i need to apply for LIC. BY ENDORSEMENT in MO then since i cant find IL in the compact states.. Am i right? Thanks!

Correct. Compact license only applicable if you maintain permanent residency in a state that is on the compact list, however if you move you have to get a license for the state you move to. As I have heard it described before think of it like a driving license, when you move to live in a new state you have to get a driving license for that state, same goes for nursing license.

For example You live and work in Arizona, which is part of the compact list, you get a temporary job in New Mexico so move temp for the job but maintain your permanent residency in AZ therefore you work under your AZ license under the compact agreement. Another example. You live and work in Arizona and get a permanent job in New Mexico and sell up your residency and move to NM you have to apply to NM through endorsement and get a license for the state of NM allowing you to work there

Your license will not allow you to work here in Canada you will have to apply to the province college of LPN and meet requirements you will then at some stage have to sit and pass CPNRE and then meet CIC requirements for work permit. A lot will depend on the province you apply to

I don't think it works that was as a lot will depend on where you want to go and what sort of life you are looking for. Once you have decided on country you then have to meet their requirements to nurse as well as work or immigration

Hello everyone,

I am interested in working overseas at some point. I may be doing an accelerated nursing program soon. I've been reading on this thread that accelerated bsn's do not usually meet the requirements to work in other countries. If I got an accelerated bsn and worked for a few years before attempting to go overseas, would that work? Or if I became a citizen of the country of my interest, would that change the way the way they view an accelerated degree? Any information would be appreciated, I'm trying to keep my options open for the future. Thanks!

Having residential and working rights for a country is fine if you need time to find work or laze around but......if you have not obtained your nursing education in that country, you will have to assessed and do whatever until that country's nursing board says before you can be registered, same as any other international nurse that comes to that country to work....

Each country is different but I doubt it will matter if you are a citizen or not you still have to meet requirements for nursing and that will depend on what your transcripts show not what your experience is
