New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

:uhoh3:

At this time New Zealand is not excepting international nurses and they were not previous to this, excepting second course nurses from the Phillipines.

It would be considered rude to the people of a country to want to work there as a nurse based on how much cheaper it was to be 'processed'

Where would you like to live and work.....New Zealand or Australia because they are seperate countries with different cultures.

There are other countries that you may prefer than these as well. that may have cheaper processing fees. :)

hi! when i posted my CV, someone suggested to me that i should include too my job description as a volunteer nurse. however, the SoS issued to me didn't include the job description. so should i still include it or not?

panic attack! confusion! disoriented! anxiety attack! *calms down so i can write*

hi! i've complete all the necessary documents, had them certified, printed my CV, had both my CV and SoS signed by my employers. in short, all that's left is to send it to AHPRA.

but i feel the need to postpone and re-think all of this

i want to be an Au-RN, but is it better if i'll just have AHPRA assessed me as EN?

are the fees for EN much cheaper than RN?

is it easier to get a job as an EN or as an RN?

i think the process is the same for overseas RNs, ENs and midwives (since all three use the AGOS-04 form) , so the fees are also the same? but what about the bridging program? is it like Phil RNs are automatic AU-ENs? or there's still katakot-takot or gargantuan tuition fees to be an Au-EN?

technically, i'm a USRN. i've wasted Php20,000+ just to pass the NCLEX-RN, but...this is like more than 1 million pesos we're talking when it comes to being an Au-RN. the big question is...

is it really worth risking Php 1,000,000.00 just to go through the BP. is there more guarantee for employment as an EN rather than as an RN?

panic attack! confusion! disoriented! anxiety attack! round 2! florence nightingale or rather, rich old australian citizen, save me from my misery!

Only to find out if they will assess you as EN rather than RN is to lodge your papers.I think it is possible as I was one of those assessed by QNC as an EN before the transition to APHRA (I'm not scaring you bro ). BEing RN here does not automatically make you an Aus EN,you'll need to study again or undergo BP for EN's if you are assess as one. BTW, you're over computing.hehe. I dont think you'll spend 1 million for the BP unless you'll go the Conversion program route. IMO, go on with your application. I believe it will be worth it once you start working there(Of course) and not everyone has the opportunity to apply in Aus as RN because of finances. :)

You'll have a better chance of employment as an RN rather than as EN.just google job advertisements in Aus. and you'll have an idea what is more in demand. Also there is only one option for Overseas EN-- max. 4 year working visa :twocents:

hi! thanks! i felt more relieved.

i closed it to Php 1 million bec i have to include my everyday expenses too.

why were you assessed as an EN btw? in the AGOS-04 question +10, the applicant must choose what type of application, if RN, EN or MW. i guess it's alright to mark RN+EN, but i only marked RN anyway...

how were you able to know that ENs too have to undergo BP? (i haven't researched on that one)

hi..i've been reading thru everyone's posts and still am confused with my case. I'm planning on taking up Bachelor of Nursing postregistration program at University of Ballarat. The program is for 1 year. My questions are:

1. will this lead to registration as Registered Nurse in AU?

2. if not, after the program commences, what are my options so i can become a registered nurse in AU?

by the way, im already an RN here in the Phils. with 1 year volunteer exp.

I hope I can be enlightened as this is an expensive program to take. I am coursing my application thru IDP by the way. Thanks everyone.

Students who undertake the Bachelor of Nursing (Postregistration) course can transfer into the Bachelor of Nursing course (which leads to registration ), providing they meet certain criteria and have had the course they have undertaken in their home country mapped. The mapping document is a document they would receive from the University once they are enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing (Postregistration) course. The transfer into the Bachelor of Nursing is also dependent on the student having the correct IELTS (7.0) and successfully completed all the units in the Bachelor of Nursing (Postregistration). You cannot prior book for the BN course - it is dependent on the student meeting the above criteria. Once students have met the criteria they will be offered a place in the BN course and will receive a letter of offer.

I had the same concern last february so I emailed them :D . One member here had to study 1 semester to finish the BN course after completion of BNP. You can also transfer to IRON if you have the required IELTS score ( 7 all).

There is a BP for EN to RN.. Nursing Bridging Program - Wollongong Campus - School of Nursing, Midwifery & Indigenous Health @ UOW

but i haven't encountered one for overseas trained.

In my case as written on my assessment letter, the subjects were equivalent to EN subjects.

hi, i'm new here and was browsing last night for the first thing to do when trying to apply in australia.

if i may ask, is this the site where i should acquire the forms?

hi! thanks for your reply. So if I understood it correctly, this means that the BN (P) in Ballarat does not lead to registration. WHen you say i can transfer to IRON, do you mean transfer while I am ongoing with the BN (P) already? thanks for all your inputs...

Yes.BNP does not lead to registration,BN does. You can only transfer to IRON once you satisfactorily complete at least 1 semester and meet the IRON entry criteria or via direct application to the IRON, which means you need a letter of approval to undergo BP from APHRA which is more economical :twocents:.

so it's like applying for a BP afterall once i finish the first sem of my BNP? does it make it any easier for me to apply for BP after i finish the first sem of my BNP?

anybody here who has finished the same program with UB? or is currently enrolled with the program?

EN's are not on the skills shortage list so therefore I would think no employer can sponsor you. so therefore I doubt you would get a work visa.

It would be like a canteen lady saying, gee, Australia would be a nice place to work, lets go...apply for visa and pronto in the country working, though I have been informed this does happen all the time illegally.
