New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Plus this:

Fee for the renewal of registration at a pro-rated amount..

hi! are you referring to this:

Nurse Fees

The application fees and fees for annual renewal of registration are provided below: Schedule of fees Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (82.1 KB,PDF)

For new applicants, the fee for annual renewal of registration will vary depending at what point the application is made during the renewal cycle.

Please note that:

  • On the initial registration, both an application fee and a fee for annual renewal of registration apply.
  • There are no fees for the registration of students.
  • There is no fee to change Registration Type to 'Non-practising'.

Fees for New Applicants

When an applicant applies for registration they will be asked to pay an application fee and a fee for annual renewal of registration. However the annual renewal fee will vary depending at what point the application is made during the renewal cycle.

Where registration occurs part-way through a registration cycle, the fee charged for annual renewal of registration is based on the number of months to go to the end of the profession's registration cycle.

The fee is calculated as follows:

1. Calculate the number of whole months from the date of payment of the fee to the end date of the registration cycle.

2. Determine where the number of months falls in the following table.

Number of Whole Months

Fee Payable

6 months or more

75% of the fee for annual renewal of registration

Between 3 and 5 months

50% of the fee for annual renewal of registration

Between 0 and 2 months

No proportionate fee is charged.

Instead the full fee for annual renewal of registration is charged, but the applicant is automatically renewed for the following year.

Example

The Nursing profession has a registration year ending on 31 May. At 1 January 2010, a person applies and pays the fee for annual renewal of registration. The number of whole months is 5 and consequently 50% of the fee is payable.

Note that the full application fee is always payable, that is, it is not proportioned.

if yes, ugh! another computation = cephalalgia! ahihi

ok, i think i already know why "Fee for the renewal of registration at a pro-rated amount" is included too. i must have overlooked this: "On the initial registration, both an application fee and a fee for annual renewal of registration apply"

@glioblastoma

yes, 115.

no, im not yet doing the BP. Im still waiting for AHPRA's decision regarding my application. I'm already in Australia as a student taking up a different course. Hopefully i'd be granted eligibility so i could start doing BP..*praying

hi! section h of agos-04 details that the breakdown of fees for first time overseas applicants are: application, registration and assessment fee

so the amount (in aud) would be:

application for general registration

aud 115

fee for annual renewal of general registration

aud 115 (could be less depending on the month)

overseas assessment charge

aud 220

total

aud 450 (could be less depending on the amount of "fee for annual renewal of general registration"

please validate...

i paid the total of $421.25

yes the fee for annual renewal of general registrated is pro-rata that's why i paid a bit less.

hi everyone!

please validate if the Fee for annual renewal of general registration (for first time applicants) for september is AUD 86.25

computation:

115 x .75 = 86.25

is 115 going to be multiplied by .75 (or 75%) because september is more than 6 months away from may 31?

computation = cephalalgia = panic attack

Oh for heavens sake, if you want your application to be considered just pay the money, I am sure they will refund if you do not qual.

You make it difficult or start sqibbling about 20 dollars here or there or if it is short of money they just may put your application in a too hard basket to be dealt with when they have the time.

Send it back, more b...emails, come on..just what we need another person that cannot see the big picture.

Can't you see no-one knows when you will be registered because you are not assessed yet!! could be sometime this year.......need to do BP yet.....maybe sometime next year, or just maybe not at all. who knows, prance, prance, prance, think about it.

congratulations for completing the requirements! i'll be lodging in my application next week too but definitely not on monday

okay about your question...

i think the answer is NO because

NO: our residential address is in the philippines and we don't have yet an employer/place of practice in AU,

the next would be to provide details on where we worked...

please correct me if i'm wrong on this one

btw, how much will you pay all in all? please detail to me the breakdown. thanks!

The pro rata is for nurses that have finished here and will be straight into registration or with the new board if you have just paid to your state board, or if you are from a country that it is just a matter of getting registered with your application or WHEN you do met requirements you will register just before the new registration year.....not now, or do you think you will get registration immediately you put in your application!

OMG! Haoyin, you're in Australia already?
