Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

World Registration

Published

Congratulations to mae05 and Ba5ty on getting your letters! You must be so relieved! You get to start applying for bridging programs now that is great!!

Dancedaffodils - it will depend on your country of origin. What country did you complete your studies and gain your registration? It was only recently decide by AHPRA that Philippine and Indian nurses need to do the bridging program. Some other countries are yet to be determined if they have to do the BP.

thanks mae05,RN looking forward to receiving my letter as well! happy for you guys:)

@Mae05,RN

We may have the same R.O. :nailbiting:

@jmolina1985 your application was reviewed 10th dec right?;)!would you happen to know how long before we get the results?;) thanks mine was reviewed on the 10th as well;)

Well, I got an e.mail from my RO that my app was moved to be reviewed on Dec. 19. This is after I was told (via phone) that it would be on the 10th. I was also told that I would be informed of the outcome 15 working days afterwards and with the holidays coming up, I reckon this will be further delayed. *sigh* They really know how to put people on an emotional roller coaster.

Anyway, for those who have received their LoEs, would you mind posting how long it took? My friends are deciding between conversion vs bp. We have less than 2 years left on our visas so they need to be quick. The main downside of the BP is the long wait but that was due to out of the ordinary circumstances. For the conversion, it's the price. I've told them that my application is on it's 9th month since being lodged. If I get the letter by January it will be 10mos however, this does not appear to be consistent with all of us here.

@Ba5ty and mae05

Congratulations! Long wait is over. One step done. What are your plans now? When are you going to take BP?

@jmolina1985

Sorry about that.

Official: yeah I know but still falls within the desired time frame as I am planning to go for the March intake of IHNA; I'd go see my family first in MLA. By the way, when you get here on January, shoot me up a PM I'd be happy to meet you up and show you around.

@official02

Thanks, it's like a thorn plucked out my orifice after i got the letter heehee. I'm trying to contact epworth (no reply yet) and ACT health (i guess they will only consider residents in ACT). i have other options as well. I hope everything will run smoothly from here and eventually do the bp early next year, feb or may.

@jmolina1985

Good luck!

I'm already done with my visa application online and had my medical exam yesterday. Although I haven't paid any to Monash for the course fee. They already gave me a Certificate of Enrollment. AUD is at its lowest for sometime now, maybe its the best time to make money transfers. Just today, ELP director sent me the program guide and I just felt totally nervous.

Thank you for that jmolina1985. If everything goes well, I'll be there by Jan 28-30.

@Ba5ty

Try Monash. Haha. I feel alone. Good luck!

@official02

ok, i'll check their site as well.

@vickynurse003

Thank you! :D

@Ba5ty

If your R.O. is located in Perth, we might have the same R.O. :D

@jmolina1985

I lodged my application 31 October 2013

Completed the New IQNM requirements 29 May 2014

Considered by the Board 21 November 2014

Received my Letter of referral for BP 16 December 2014

Try to divert you attention. Enjoy the Holidays. It will come in God's time. :)

@official02

Thank you!

I am planning to have my BP in the first quarter of 2015. Most likely January or February. My IELTS is running out of time.

I am considering ACN, ETEA or IHNA.

Thanks Ba5ty! I'm not overly concerned with mine as my RO had finally given a written statement that my application will be considered on the 19th. Suffice to say, I have not encountered anyone who was not recommended for the BP unless they didn't meet the recency of practice requirement or was not registered in the PH.

I need the timeline for my friends here who are torn between doing the conversion as opposed to doing the bp. Timeline is crucial as the time we have left may not suffice since they are just beginning the process.

At this point, for those of you waiting for your visas, take some time and consider your next move after the BP. It's not a one way ticket and we must do our best to help each other out on which maneuvers can get us to stay and work as nurses in Aus.

Oh, for those doing the BP in VIC sometime in January, let's meet up!
