Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

World Registration

Published

Hi Kristine,

Thank you so much for your guidance and advise, it is so great to have people who have gone through the process being able to offer this additional help. Sometimes it feels like such a big thing, but so lonely. Who did you do your IRON program through?

I thank you for you inputs, on a personal level I really do value the clinical placement aspect of the bridging program. I think it is so important to do as much clinical placement as possible, even if I am not offered sponsorship I truly think it will help me to land an Australian nursing job after getting registration.

Getting my Australian nursing registration is a big life commitment and investment, the fees for this program should not go to waste to somewhere not offering clinical placements to learn from.

I will definitely take your advise though for applying for PR after getting the long awaited AHPRA registration!!! Thanks for the heads up!

hi vicky nurse,

During my bp in ihna melbourne, our course fees was 12500 aud but now i think they're giving discounts to upcoming students. I am not sure but I heard that its 10000 aud and free accommodation for the current students. But by January they might be giving 125 dollar per week accommodation. Anyway, back to my bp experience, I was placed in Canberra ACT for my clinicals. I've learned alot during my placement and the knowledge and skills i have gained was a lot more than my theory class. Just pm me if you have questions.

Hi!

Yes I am budgeting for a program that will be around AUD$12,500, I think that is the average cost.

I am so glad to hear that you had a great clinical placement experience and it was really beneficial for you and you learnt. That is what I want too, which is why I will be choosing a provider that can give me lots of details about their clinical placement as I think this is just so important.

Thank you for your offer. I may PM you when I actually get my letter, at this stage I am still just hoping it comes soon.

Monash University for 5 Jan 2015 intake. The intensive phase will start on 2 Feb and clinical placement on 9 Feb. I am still waiting for the ID so that I can manage the online modules and the confirmation of enrolment. I bargained if I can already access the modules and have my confirmation of enrolment even if I am not yet fully paid.

hi, i'm currently applying for my visa 600. hopefully i'll be able to complete the application and obtain my visa before december ends.

do you happen to know the other requirements besides the medical, letter of referral to bridging and certificate of enrollment for the visa 600? how long does it take for the visa to be issued?

Hi Guys!

I would like to know if there is anyone here who had the same experience as mine.

I made a web inquiry regarding my application in the AHPRA website. A registration officer emailed me and said that my application is due for consideration on the 21st of November and it would take approximately three weeks. Until now, I haven't receive any email from them.

It is so frustrating. I am happy for @gin_buko because he already got his LOE.

Do you have any idea if there is something wrong with my application?

I'm not sure how you'd do that after lodging on line. I'd call them to explain the situation and ask for advice.

Where to apply - Australian Embassy

@gin_buko

I am just wondering how they are assessing our applications. Is it by lodge date or by date of completion of requirements for the new framework? Do you have any idea? They received my application last October 31, 2013. I was able to complete the new requirements last May 29, 2014.

@mae05

It should be by date order. However, as you can see, it's not. Timing is likely to be very dependent on how fast (or slow) your registration officers are. For one, you have an officer in the branch you applied for. The time from the receipt of your application to the time he/she referred it to NSW is a factor. Another one is how fast is your registration officer in NSW. I think that is the biggest factor. He/she assesses for its completeness, then maybe refer it to his/her manager, then refer it to the IQNM National Team. After that, the time it will be referred to the National Board which is crucial. The Board usually decides it for just a day but the time in between passing and scheduling and queuing it up is really crucial. When the Board has decisions already, another factor is where will the decision go, which local board will send out the decision. It should take 2-4 weeks after the Board consideration before you'll know. Good luck!

@official02

Hi! Thank you for the information. To be honest, I don't know who is my registration officer before. I guess I belong to those neglected applicants. I tried to email those registration officers who sent me emails before, hoping someone will reply. Then last month, I emailed this registration officer and told her I don't know who is my R.O. All of a sudden, she replied and mentioned a R.O that I never encountered before. She even suddenly said that, "From now on, I will be your R.O."

The crazy thing there is, She cannot even tell me when will the Board review my application. I made a web inquiry in the AHPRA site and that was the time I learned that the Board will consider my application last 21 November with approximately three weeks for the decision to be released

I am so happy for you guys that you already received your LOE's. I hope we will have ours too.
