Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

World Registration

Published

hi VickyNurse003,

I just want to share my opinion regarding getting a job after bp. They seldom offer sponsorship ( work visa) to overseas nurses because they need to do market testing for 6 months, if no Australian citizen or permanent residents will fit the job, then that's the time they sponsor Overseas nurses. They have to give proof to immigration why they need to hire overseas after market testing. If you are on theater, you'd be lucky if you get a job since there are vacancies for Theatre nurses in NSW. The best thing to do is be prepared:after gaining registration process your ANMAC, then Expression of Interest, then apply for pr. You can still apply for jobs but you need a backup plan if sponsorship seem impossible. Goodluck!

finally, after a long wait.... my letter of referral has arrived. time to hasten things up, got 4 weeks to prepare. hope others will get theirs too. loking forward to meeting you all soon

Hi! May I know what time did you receive the email of your LOE and when did you lodge your application in AHPRA? Mine was also considered last 21st November.

Thank you.

Hi @jmmolina @ ordoghaz

did you also apply for monash too? I was reluctant at first to send them my CV because I'm not so confident with my experience. But the partner agency of monash here in the Philippines has called me and told me that I can still make it to the January intake, if I'll start processing now. Any idea if this agency is trustworthy? I don't want to pay anything unless I'm sure I am really qualified for the Monash Iron program. And they've sent me a list of the fees which I can avail (very expensive if I'll get their visa assistance, health insurance, accomodation).. I was told that if I confirm with the January intake, they will be offering free service for the assistance of the agency (which is around 20k php i think). Anyway, my experience is 1 yr 9 months ultrasound tech , 3 months training in the OR department and 2 months casual nurse in the Ortho unit~ everything in a Joint Commission International accredited hospital in the Phils. I wonder why I was qualified because the 1st email was that the minimum requirement is 3 yrs experience.

congrats gin_buko!

@official02

Got accepted in Monash University however I did not qualify for the scholarship together with someone I know.

Now, I wonder why?

So there, I cannot pay the 12,500 plus 2,500 admin fee. Looking for other schools.

how did they explain the agency's processing? They called me awhile ago, telling me that I am qualified for the program, but for the scholarship they already have the final list for January intake. They also told ne that the assistance fee will be free of charge if I will avail the January batch. they sent me the list of requirements, cost of fees. Will talk to them tomorrow again for futher queries.

Still hesitant since I am not sure if there are hidden charges. How I wish Monash would have accepted direct applications from interested students instead of having to go through an agency-which I think is offering overpriced services. And still not sure if I can make it for the January intake because I haven't started with other requirements such as vaccinations plus the visa processing will take some time too. Very stressful indeed because I wasn't prepared for my AHPRA result. Really thought that I would be declined. Now I am rushing matters with my family regarding the expenses for BP plus visa and my living expenses there in Oz. :facepalm:

@official02

i sent an email a while back to Monash just to confirm affiliation, and they said, they do work with them for the IRON programme.

but didnt directly answer my question about scholarship. they just forwarded my email to someone from Ausone?

anyhow, i havent got my BP referral letter. and Im in no way ready for a jan intake, so it doesnt really matter. I will look at schools sort of second quarter ish of next year. and im considering an Oct or NOv intake, and will weigh my options when i get there.

whether they are legit or not. i dont know. i mean, its an actual programme that will let you get on the register eventually, but until i know how they make business out of all these and they are happy to disclose it, i wont be comfortable personally. ive gone this far doing everything on my own, so waiting a bit longer for me if i have to, isnt a bad thing. i think there should be no problem to carry on with the process as long as it doesnt deviate you from your goal to get registered, like they will not have a clause on contracts on the scholarship? about them having the say whether they will release your certificate or forward it to ahpra unless certain conditions are met. my point is, read the terms and conditions carefully. it is an awful-lot of money you can save as well.

and,just because im proud of myself about it. ive just started a research nurse job here in the UK last week. and its been interesting although its part time. so im not in a rush at the moment.

I have expressed intent for Monash's BP with AusOne-ELP but that's as far as I've gone. It's not very farfetched that Monash has a scholarship programme although (and mind you), it could be used as a matketing tool for AusOne-ELP to get you hooked up with Monash and their ancillary services.

Hi Kristine,

Thank you so much for your guidance and advise, it is so great to have people who have gone through the process being able to offer this additional help. Sometimes it feels like such a big thing, but so lonely. Who did you do your IRON program through?

I thank you for you inputs, on a personal level I really do value the clinical placement aspect of the bridging program. I think it is so important to do as much clinical placement as possible, even if I am not offered sponsorship I truly think it will help me to land an Australian nursing job after getting registration.

Getting my Australian nursing registration is a big life commitment and investment, the fees for this program should not go to waste to somewhere not offering clinical placements to learn from.

I will definitely take your advise though for applying for PR after getting the long awaited AHPRA registration!!! Thanks for the heads up!

Hi.

I was NOT able to get into the scholarship program of Monash. Well, my thoughts are good as yours. I've done the online registration for the course and I saw that only 3 people completed it (out of 10 available slots). I am just waiting for the confirmation of my enrollment so that I can lodge my visa.

Hi! Where did you enroll official02? And are you done with your vaccines? Im still waiting for my loe. =)

They're offering free services for assistance if I will enroll for the January intake. Though I think I won't be getting their whole package since it is very expensive. I think I can do the visa processing on my own. However I'm in a rush because my IELTS will expire on April and I don't want to take another exam again.the person we've talked with told me that I can still make it for the Janhary intake since the online modules can be done her in the Phil., so I still have time for visa processing. Anyway we're still thinking about it and we haven't made any commitment yet.

Hi guys! I just want to ask the requirements for the visa subclass 600? Aside from the bank statements,do I need to present other requirements to prove that I can support myself financially during my stay in OZ?
