Denied by CABON now to take LVN..

World Registration

Can anyone help me here, I'm planning to take the LVN exam because I just got denied by CABON because of the concurrency issue..I just want to know:

Method #3 - Equivalent Education and/or Experience(the PHARMACOLOGY course)Do I need to submit it also? and how? or I just need to submit only the

Method #2 - Graduates of an Out-of-State School of Practical/Vocational Nursing.

BTW, I'm an international graduate, Registered Nurse from the Philippines but I can't sit for the NCLEX-RN exam that is why I decided to take this one. Hope someone can answer my question thank you.

We were just inquiring that time steppybay. Besides, with the uncertainty of that path I cannot afford to go that route without assurance that she will get approved if she ever takes the deficient course. But if we take the LVN route, at least we are assured now that melai got her eligibility. What option did you take for yourself? Goodluck to all of us!

Yes, I can see, it's the money factor, clearly understandable! Myself, I and another good PH friend plan to research more of which state we want to plant our roots in, once we can pass the NCLEX, we are saving our monies now to make that visitation to the actual state (still unknown for now), get to see the US country side, we hope along the way. With us, being young and single with no significant other attached, no kids, we can roam the country, lol.

Myself, I rather keep on the search to becoming an RN and having that on my job badge one day. I and my friend have always been very determined and discreetly "outspoken", for me, I know it will happen, it will be a slight detour on my way there, that's all.

Good luck to you and your wife and the pursuit of your dreams!

I can't find it. thanks for the reply though

Here's a start:

dragon lady? how much did you pay them just to transfer your old files from CA BON to BVN?

$30 for the fee.

I think one of the concerns that I did have was seeing how their LVN friends are actually having a tRougher time finding a job than an RN, let alone getting one interview, as it seems the LVN job market has really dropped a lot,

It has dropped, probably worse than the RN job market now, whereas before an LVN would work in an LTC or in home health.unemployed RNs everywhere you look has led to higher levels of RN staffing. Now whether wages will stay up given the large pool of applicants remains to be seen.

There's been a gradual decline in jobs for LVNs in acute care hospitals for years, so the concept of "LVN duties" is well on it's way to obsolete. A short answer to that question would be that it's a waste of money from the hospital's point of view to pay one nurse at (estimate) $35/hr to do the same thing another can be paid $20/hr to do. As we've discussed in other threads, the future will likely hold a plethora of unlicensed specialized tech jobs. I've noticed ads for some of these training courses right here on allnurses.

To say that a similar Scope of Practice exists for most basic skills, doesn't make the nurses interchangeable. The differences tend to be in the realm of leadership and management, and formulating a NANDA based nursing care plan. Two things I happily give away, btw. This is the first time I've heard LVNs must obey the commands of an RN, though, it's a little too reminiscent of the Wizard and Dorothy.

As I mentioned above, while individual policies amongst healthcare providers aren't the same as Scope of Practice, they operate in a similar, but not legally binding manner, that further restricts the interchangeability of nurses at that particular facility.

Many RNs are actually taught the misconceptions in nursing school, where they will also make sure you know that LPNs are just for "data collection" and "can't grasp the big picture". Sometimes they liken LPNs to the role of a CNA rather than the far more sensible grouping of nurses together. The nurse unions toil relentlessly away trying to strip things away from the LPN scope and making a big fuss about "data collection" and trying to convince people of the existential inferiority of an LPN/LVN to themselves.

thanks dragon lady. what should I do with the postcard?

You don't need the postcard if you didn't request an application packet from the board. If you printed out your application from the website, then you don't need a postcard.

Miss Dragon lady, if you pay them 30$ dollars to transfer you transcripts. Did you get another one from your school? if so, the board received two documents of the same thing.

dragon lady, my analyst said that she will transfer my TOR and RLE for free. :)

some analysts require a transfer fee but you're lucky if yours is free. For me my analyst required me of the fee. It may take time for them to transfer your records to bvnpt according to other members here so just be patient. :)
