Can anyone help me here, I'm planning to take the LVN exam because I just got denied by CABON because of the concurrency issue..I just want to know:

Method #3 - Equivalent Education and/or Experience(the PHARMACOLOGY course)Do I need to submit it also? and how? or I just need to submit only the

Method #2 - Graduates of an Out-of-State School of Practical/Vocational Nursing.

BTW, I'm an international graduate, Registered Nurse from the Philippines but I can't sit for the NCLEX-RN exam that is why I decided to take this one. Hope someone can answer my question thank you.

Hello,

I Only sent Record of Nursing program to my school and I asked the BRN to transfer my school documents to the BVN.As for the Live scan, download the form on the bvnpt website and bring it to a live scan store or in UPS store. Then send it with your application,if you have your record of nursing program, much better, your $150 fee money order or check, record of conviction form which you can find on the website, high school and college diploma.

Good luck and God bless us.

Last one, the highschool and college diploma, just the copy of those? or the original?

Thank you so much for your help.

God Bless you, too.

Hi Melai! Good news for you and for all of us! I'm always reading here for updates regarding bvnpt. My wife is doing exactly what you have just that the school is still taking care of the documents to be sent to BVNPT. Do you know how long it took the BVNPT to examine your grades by the time it arrived (assuming you had a tracking number with it)? Any information would be greatly appreciated melai. Good luck on your exam!

my Checklist: please help me guys.

1. Method3 Equivalent Education and/or Experience.

2. record of nursing program and TOR

3. Record of conviction

4. Live scan and 150$ application fee with application form.

5. Photograph 2x2

6. Attached a copy of High School and college Diploma.

7. Proof of 54 Theory Hours of Pharmacology ??? my friend didn't pass this requirement.

8. Postcard (55A-7) what should I do with this???

I thought that your wife was taking the deficient courses at Loma Linda? Why go the LVN route?

Suggest you find and read the two threads exclusively that overs these same subjects in better details, some step-by-step process, it's all there.

I can't find it. thanks for the reply though

dragon lady? how much did you pay them just to transfer your old files from CA BON to BVN?

Specializes in Peds/outpatient FP,derm,allergy/private duty.
It's like someone else mentioned in another thread in another part of this site. Think of it as the RN is the officer in charge and LVN's are the enlisted soldiers. LVN's don't always see the whole picture but are required to listen and obey the commands of the RN. Yes, the RN is the boss of you.

As such, the RN's are held to a higher standard and have more responsibility and can stand to lose their license if found they have not performed properly of their duties, including possibly if an LVN messes up in her job duties.

That is not true. Both work under their own license. A particular facility may have policies that restrict what LVNs can do, but California in fact has very little in the Scope of Practice that an LVN must never do.

I would encourage everyone to read The Commuter's excellent series of articles on LPNs, Myths and Misconceptions.

We were just inquiring that time steppybay. Besides, with the uncertainty of that path I cannot afford to go that route without assurance that she will get approved if she ever takes the deficient course. But if we take the LVN route, at least we are assured now that melai got her eligibility. What option did you take for yourself? Goodluck to all of us!

Hi, I found the two articles you mentioned:

Thank you fo enlightening my (lack of) this knowledge. I was listening to a few of my newly found RN friends here in the States.

I think one of the concerns that I did have was seeing how their LVN friends are actually having a tougher time finding a job than an RN, let alone getting one interview, as it seems the LVN job market has really dropped a lot, with the flood of new LVN's coming from the schools and that many hospitals are going more and more with new grad RN's to do some of the LVN duties as you so mentioned with the "very little in the Scope of Practice that an LVN must never do", so that why hire LVN's if a hospital or medical facility can also just have an RN do the same but a bit more.

Do you find that true today?

Thanks again!
