Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

does anyone know how long the univ. of ballarat gives the coe?

i payed my tuition 3 days ago, yet no reply from them!

With which provider are you going to have your BP? WLI or AAoN?

Good day.

To those who went to Australia already for the 1st time, I would like to ask how long did it take you to get out of the tullamarine airport? Where does it usually delay you? Customs? Baggage claims?

I need to be at Southern cross station by 11 am June 24. Jetstar has an arrival flight on June 24 6:45 am.

So I will have roughly of 4 hours to get myself out of the airport and rush to southern cross station. My cousin tells me I can easily transport myself from tullamarine airport to southern cross station via the skybus which only costs 17 AUD and takes more or less 20 - 30 mins to get to southern cross.

So in your opinion, how long is the transition of arrival to getting out of the airport? Better take the flight that will arrive in Melbourne Tullamarine airport 4 hours before the meet up or get one day earlier arrival flight?

Thanks for any input!!!!

IMHO, to find where sky bus leaves from (very easy) (every 5-10mins) and how to get a ticket and for the bus to arrive and for it to get to southern cross - perhaps - half to 3/4 of an hour. One hour tops.

That leaves plenty of time to get through the border. Should be fine arriving at 7am even 9am.

Forgot to add, baggage collection, immigration, quarantine, customs, usually takes on average 1hr, probably less. Though the variable. If you become a random check usually then 1 to half hour. Immigration discussion same- this is not all the time and sometimes, just a few short questions, do not looked stressed and anxious do not sweat :) - have you seen the shows.

All up at most 1 and half hour, if unlucky. Most people breeze through customs with a quick show of their passports. Éveryone is welcome.!

HINT: do not bring food in of any sort, even off he plane, so not to have to state yes on immigration card, if yes, you will need to declare and take through quarantine. Which will take more time.

They have sniffer dogs for food. If you do not declare and get caught - fines and listed on immigration.

Thank you so much for a very insightful reply. Yes, I have watched the show "Security Border". I do see lots of foreigners, even local Australians who went abroad and got detained and questioned thoroughly. May I ask if I can bring food that's international food like Soup powder Knorr, or Nestle milk cereals or canned goods that has clear english in them? I've seen some episodes that foreigners who bring foodstuff that isn't in english are usually thrown out. Especially the mushrooms and herbs.

Also, there was one episode where a Foreigner has brought police clearance papers and has a tourist visa only..He was questioned because they thought he might look for work. But at the end, he was released. That doesn't apply to bridging applicants right? We do need to bring all of our work related and school related documents. Right?

Hello!!! I am for the ARNTP October intake... Any future classmates here? Thanks..... :)

Where and what is ARNTP?requirements?

I am looking for a school for an October or November intake. So far, Lonsdale/Alpine has responded to me on an intake for August and November.June is my interview month. No final sched yet. I am still open to other schools.

There are slight differences in the vaccination requirements among schools offering bridging programs. Some require more than one serological evidence. What are the appropriate serological tests for the following:

A. MMR -- IgG or IgM; and

B. Varicella -- IgG or IgM?

I've already contacted Deakin and I'm currently awaiting their response but I'm curious to know if anyone here has an idea on the specific serologies that need to be taken. Any answer would be appreciated. Thanks.

I suggest a visit to your family doctor or GP. Show her/him the form you need completed and they can fill it up for you and order the serology tests needed for them. That's what I did. :p

For me it would be better if u would bring a laptop

This was actually a very informative question and i am glad it was answered.

Are you also rooting for Alpine. Though quite more expensive, I think I am into their offer because this way, I won't have to worry about the accommodation and travels anymore.

I have an interview for Alpine/lonsdale...any idea on what they interview is like? Thanks much. :)

Hi there! i am also for lonsdale aug intake, are you gonna pursue it? if yes, then hello future classmate!!:cat:

Hi.. Try to search on this thread.. You'll see the answers from previous posts. They ask practical nursing questions/computations. Lots of information here. Just do some browsing:)
