In-home NP Medicare Assessments

I have seen several job postings for these type of positions. I am interested in the position because it sounds like there is a good amount of flexibility.

Does anyone have experience doing them? What exactly does the visit entail? Did you enjoy it? What did you think of the salary? Thanks!

Specializes in ER/Tele, Med-Surg, Faculty, Urgent Care.

I did this for 3 months. Worked 10 hour days 7 days per week for first month. Multiple problems from tablet not working, the schedulers for this company are in Florida. Sounds so easy just just have to see 5-6 people per day. Each assessment takes 1.5 hour per average plus drive time between visits, weekly phone team meetings, re-doing the assessments & resubmitting by deadline means working on weekends. This company requires you to participate in car program that you use for visits & can use for personal use but automatically deduct $$ from paycheck. There is a reason you are seeing so many job postings for Medicare advantage home assessments. Turnover is high. One company that called me expected me to cover 3 counties, in New Mexico. Dona Ana, Luna's, & Sierra county are huge counties (approximately 10,000 square miles)! For those that are starting this type of job please let me know how it works out for you.

Well one of the things to look for is if the company mentions that the assessments are in one particular area and if they pay for gas mileage. I would think that, that would be a good company to work for. I just wonder how long is the credentialing process?? It is the same with some home health companies, nurses have good experiences and bad ones, especially if the company is unorganized and makes the job more tedious than it should be. Keep searching until you find the company that is the right fit for you.

85 per visit in my area....

My source is NEHC (northeast health care).

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Great info but we do ask that you not post individual recruiters names on the public board to protect their privacy. Thanks.

Has anyone rec'd a copy of the coverage for any of these companies? Or had a lawyer look at it? If you're considered an independent contractor- and a lawsuit would manage to come up- is the coverage with the company generally good enough? Or do most of you take out your own MM insurance?

I've just recently sent in all my credentialing information and awaiting to start a PT 'healthy house call' in my area. Wages are $100/assessment which seems to be a good amount if i can spend about an hour with each patient. The company offers MM insurance coverage if you do not carry your own. I'm currently covered by my employer for medical malpractice, but just not sure about trusting what this company will cover.

Reimbursement is $140 per visit in my area.

I just took a position doing health risk assessments for medicare patients in Florida making $70 per assessment, plus 56c/mile travel reimbursement, and lodging if seeing patients out of my area. If I agree to travel state wide I can make $120 per assessment. I don't have to schedule my own patients. I just tell them the days and hours that I'm available and the schedulers set everything up. Right now I'm getting a full day schedule which is great. They also sent me a new computer, all of my medical supplies, and a hot spot device for internet access. Anyone else in Florida doing this? If so, what's your pay and set up like?
