Feeling at my lowest...do you ever have a rough day at work and just want to hide under a Rock? And not talk to anyone? Patient is doing well but physician is upset.

what happened? Physicians get upset all of the time, often for no good reason at all.....

A majority of physicians are totally into "drama." They seem to make things 1000x worse than they are. Dont sweat it!

I have been there......even had a nurse call me "STUPID" in front of a group of nurses & physicians when I asked a question during my new nurse orientation and I went home crying. You have to lift your head up and keep on marching.

Yes. I've had those days. Sometimes it helps to remember that the "angry" person has also made mistakes. We might not know what those mistakes are, but they do exist. Always!

We have all had those days where a career in food services sounded better...((HUGS)) Indulge in your favourite food, have an adult beverage, or a hot bath!

Thank you all for your comments. His focus was on a financial aspect that the patient might be getting because of my mistake versus the well being of his pt. I guess he needed someone to blame....

Unfortunately, the nurse is often the most convenient scapegoat for anything and everything. You'd probably be blamed for something even if you hadn't make a mistake.

I'm sorry you had a rough day. Hang in there!

I have had misguided rants directed at me a million times. I have had nurses tell me to "shut up" or when I'm talking to a patient, or they are talking to me, a nurse said "if you'd just stop talking and listen to me." (when the patient and myself are TALKING!) I tell you, it never ceases to amaze me the lack of professionalism, decency, or respect in this profession at times. It's not all, to be sure, but those that have the audacity to pull such a knuckle head move really gets my goat. Really really gets my goat. How dare they. I find these days that I am more apt to stand up and correct those, when years ago I would not have. It's unfortunate that we have to really turn it on for those people, when I would prefer not to, but someone has to speak up and not allow these imbeciles to continue on their rant to someone else. We can only do so much. Keep your head high and move it along. Chances are they are not thinking one bit about you and your feelings.

Who cares if they are upset...I try to have little interaction with them anymore. Especially at a teaching hospital, the residents would be the first to throw you under the bus...my advice is just to stay clear of all the docs.

I have a dear friend who is an absolute genius at dealing with "difficult people". When faced with a red-faced ranting physician who was attacking her for something that was completely off the wall..... she said in a very sympathetic tone " it's not easy being you, is it?" Priceless!
