Doctor resigning after explosive incident

Nurses Relations

Published

One of our docs has now resigned. He is volatile. I was there for the incident, he had the unit secretary call the assistant manager in the night about some charting she did in one of his charts. He reamed her out in the middle of the night, and then ranted on and off for the rest of the night.

Peer review ensued, I and others were interviewed, and now he is is "pursuing other interests" and we "thank him for his service".

I actually feel a bit sorry. He is a good doc. But, his behavior was getting old. I guess the system works. It's not tolerating this stuff like it used to.

You are missing the point that some abuse in the health care world is gender based.

The abuser is intolerant and abusive relative to female but not male coworker.

There is a grand history of that in the world, even the USA.

I get that loud and clear.

Just not from his post.

That's funny. None of the docs ever yell at ME. I wonder why it's just the little women they yell at and throw **** at?

I have also found that some of the doctors or departments (and patients) who give some of the other staff issues dont give me the same type of treatment. I am female, but I am also a strong advocate for myself and my patients.

I find your post ridiculous.*

Do you think you are funny with comments like this?*

That's a pretty strong statement considering you lack the discernment to even understand the point of my post.

You responded directly to Boratz post which specifically referenced gender discrimination relative to physician behavior. You even quoted his comment in your comment.

Throwing things? I'd call the cops and press charges for assault. That's just me though, I can understand why others wouldn't. But nobody's throwing things and threatening me without consequences.

This. All day, every day.
