Dangerous nurses

Nurses Relations

Have any of you ever worked with a nurse you would classify as dangerous ---- dangerous as a nurse and as a person?

Specializes in OB, HH, ADMIN, IC, ED, QI.

The problem with calling CPS, is that I hadn't a concrete bit of evidence to explain why I thought the mother had Munchausen's by proxy, other than her daughter was emaciated, despite being tube fed. They're so busy and the mother such a convincing liar (she even worked in CPS, as a lay worker with delinquent kids, her son being one of them).

If I had continual contact with them, it would have been possible that I'd catch something blatant, but they lived far from the agency where I worked. I was asked to go with them to Disneyland from a call to all the offices.......

Specializes in ICU/Critical Care.

Yeah, you're kinda caught between a rock and a hard place but you don't really need concrete proof that something is going on. The suspicion is enough.

Recapping a needle after a known drug abuser? Dangerous is putting it mildly sounds more like dumb to me. We have stop recapping needles long ago nurses should know better.

Specializes in telemetry, med-surg, home health, psych.

IMHO the dangerous ones are the ones that are so busy trying to find fault and write others up that they neglect their own responsibilities.....the gossipy ones scare me.....when one starts in about others before report...I tell them I don't want to hear it, just report please....unless of course it is pertinant to pt. care that I will be dealing with....

Specializes in acute rehab, med surg, LTC, peds, home c.

I agree, Some nurses try to appear like super nurse by putting others down all the time. But still, there are some scary even crazy nurses out there. Sometimes the ones putting everyone down are the most unstable. I work with one who is definitely not stable. Always talking about nonsense, emotionally labile, etc. She puts on a good show in front of the managers though so they all think she is fabulous. All the nurses on the floor know that she's nuts but she is so far up managements collective but it is truly sickening to watch.:hlk:

We all hae to go thru school and write the exam, and then get thrown in. Experience makes you wiser. BUT, we all have a responsibility to take care of our young. If we are senior staff, we have a professional responsibility to share our knowledge! Quit complaining, whining and putting others down. If you think a co worker needs help, be the mentor your supposed to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Specializes in geriatrics,med/surg,vents.

I don't think the complaints here are about nurses who are inexperienced and need some help or explanations it's about nurses who think they know and won't accept the help or just don't care about doing things the right way.
