Duke ABSN Fall 2011

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi all!

I know its early and the application isn't due until December 1st, but I was wondering if there was anyone else out there applying to the Duke ABSN program to start in August of 2011! I've already read through some of the previous semesters' threads and it seems like a great outlet for discussion/ questions/ nerves!

Let me know :)

did anyone from the second round get in? what time did the email arrive...i'm not a candidate (just an anxious mom)...the real candidate is in class this morning...pls give me a clue

It came for me at 11:42 EST

the email came at 11:42am. i've called "her" and left a voicemail. i'll repost when she returns my call.

Thanks for calling her because I have probably emailed her enough lol.

Go ! Thx for answering. We know nothing about numbers. This has been the most secretive, dragged out, and painful experience. Since we never heard how many were chosen the first time; how many were eliminated after that; how many were parked in the second round pool; or how anyone in the second round pool ranked...they had all the cards all the time. I know they were burned by taking so many for the spring cohort; however, it seems to me that somehow the cohort for the fall has experienced undue "stuff."

I got waitlisted too. This is unbelieveably frustrating :-(

It is horrible that we don't get any numbers or any more information than we actually do. It seems that the past fall cohorts did not have to go through any of this. I guess they are just trying to make sure that they don't admit too many people. How many did they have in the Spring??

If I remember correctly, I think they offered 100 spots and got 92 takers for the spring. They usually hover around 70 in a cohort. I think they are still traumatized.

I agree- this is so stressful . I felt that my essays were soooo strong and my interviews went so well but they penalized me for my undergraduate GPA not being great even though I had a 4.0 in grad school (studying Biology).

UNC didn't take letters of recommendations nor did they have an interview but they accepted me. The school see my potential in paper and Duke saw my potential in person yet they keep stringing me along....like a bad boyfriend who'll never marry you :)

Anyway I know it's clique but everything happens for a reason people- I swear it does. The more I talk to people the more it seems that few get into schools the first time they apply so if it's something you really want keep trying!

Whoa!! Ok thanks for letting me know because I had no idea that happened.

Just remember...we are grateful that the bad boyfriends don't marry us!

So true!! My bf of 4.5 broke up with me in December because he can't commit. So I've been feeling strung along by him and Duke- THANK GOD FOR UNC!!!

thanks for pointing out the positive!! see there's a silver lining in every cloud!!!!!!!!!:D

UNC is your knight in shining armor:)

Hey all. Just thought I would check in. I'll be going to in the fall (me and Nikki164 are going to rock it!!!!) I've asked duke to remove me from future correspondence. I know it is an amazing school and everyone who is going there will get a great experience but applying during this weird transition year was way more stressful than I expected it to be.
