Duke ABSN Fall 2011

Hi all!

I know its early and the application isn't due until December 1st, but I was wondering if there was anyone else out there applying to the Duke ABSN program to start in August of 2011! I've already read through some of the previous semesters' threads and it seems like a great outlet for discussion/ questions/ nerves!

Hey all. Just thought I would check in. I'll be going to Vandy in the fall (me and Nikki164 are going to rock it!!!!) I've asked duke to remove me from future correspondence. I know it is an amazing school and everyone who is going there will get a great experience but applying during this weird transition year was way more stressful than I expected it to be.

Congrats on you and Nikki164 getting into !!

We are the group known as the guinea pigs because they are experimenting the new admission rules on us.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to come in and say that I received an acceptance letter this morning! Since my birthday is this week, I can say that this is like the best gift I could ever receive! Although I'm excited, I'm also sad that I don't see any other yes's on here yet like I thought I would. This whole process has been emotionally draining and even though I got in, there are even greater hurdles to come (i.e. financial aid). No matter the final outcome, I'm thankful for the experience and I'm still thinking about Plan B (and C). Never again will I apply to only one school! I'm still crossing my fingers for us all!!!

Congrats aspire2inspire - I also was accepted into the program! My thoughts go out to those who didn't receive the news they had hoped for - this process has been so long and drawn out - the good news is that the waiting is now over. I truly believe that things happen for a reason and years from now, everyone (accepted or not) will feel like the "right" thing happened in the end.

Well the waiting isn't over for those, like myself, who got waitlisted haha! We still have to wait another week before they will even tell us our rankings and then we have to wait even longer to find out if we ever will get off the waitlist and get accepted! Congrats to those who got accepted though!

Hey waitlisters, just got a voicemail from "her".

She says that in the previous cohorts that they have been able to get through the waitlist BUT this cohort is different because as someone mentioned, last spring they took a HUGE amount of applicants. She reaffirmed that we would receive our rankings soon (a week), though she did let me know mine (19). There are 45 applicants total on this waitlist. Based on my ranking specifically (just for those who find yours out soon), she said it was hard to tell whether they'd get to 19. She also mentioned that there is still the potential that there is no further drop-off at this point. I asked her if there was a deadline for letting them no if you'd like your application moved to the spring cohort and she told me it will be July 1st, even though they will still be pulling off the waitlist until August 1st.

I hope this helps any of you gain some perspective. As for myself, I will probably be moving my application for Spring 12. I'm so over this waiting thing.

I'm glad some of you know your rankings! I emailed and asked but haven't been told anything.

I'd like to share how another school does things, just for perspective.

UCLA had 700 applicants for 60 spots. There were 40 people on the wait list (I was number 30). They went up to number 12 on the wait list and now they have all their acceptances. The whole process took all of two weeks.

It seems they have a pretty good system going on.

I hope everyone gets the news they want to hear....good luck peeps!

I sent her an email. She told me that I was number 13. Hopefully this will be a lucky number for me. She told me that there is still a good chance of me getting accepted because there is a chance that people will decline admission in the second round. We will just have to wait and see.

Waaahhhhh!!! Waitlisted too!! Very anxious to know my number. Did anyone talk to M and find out how many 2nd rounders were offered acceptance? As of now I'm going to Emory-anyone else!?

I guess I am! (haha). I put in my deposit and have been waiting on edge to hear from Duke. Waitlisted--so looks like Emory. I also got into Vanderbilt and have until Friday to tell them an answer. I am so lost as to what to do right now!!! (I would love any advice folks!)
