University of Rochester ABPNN Fall 2012

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello Everybody:

I decided to make this new thread for the students that are applying to the ABPNN (University of Rochester) for the fall 2012. I have been reading other posts from previous cohorts, but haven't found anyone for the fall 2012 cohort. I sent my application a few days ago, so now I'm in the WAITING process. Does anyone know how long is going to take them to have the final results? Any comments will be appreciated and will help us to stay on top of the GAME!! Good luck to all of you!!

Yup, I'm officially going to U of R! NYU's financial aid was miserable, and I got a nice scholarship from the School of Nursing :) I'm really excited to get everything together!

thats great!!! I am trying to set up my finances ASAP before I make the decision to go. I have to pay 30000. How much did u end paying. was your scholarship enough? looking forwar to meet u in sept!!!

Just got accepted today! Does anyone know how hard it is to find housing around the campus? I'm coming from CA and need to start thinking about places to live/roommates, etc.

Congrats hbsummer, I'm coming from California too and have just started looking into housing. Unfortunately it looks like the white coat neighborhood houses are booked until the 1st of next year. Would anyone be interested in living together in an apartment with a shuttle to the hospital/campus? (I am a guy)

Hi 9ftmidget,

Congrats on getting accepted too!

I'm girl and hoping I can find a girl roommate as well. Sorry! But where are you from in CA?? I'm down in Southern CA and would love to meet up sometime in the summer so I know someone when the program starts!

No worries! I just graduated from UCSD and will be here in la jolla until the end of the month when I leave for Europe. Whereabouts in socal are you?

Hi everyone! Congrats on those who got into the program and good luck/fingers crossed to those that are waiting to hear! I am currently finishing up my first semester (okay well I have six weeks left) of the ABPNN at U of R and I LOVE it!!! I cannot say enough good things about the program. I was hesitant at first, because it is expensive and I am from Southern California (hello culture shock!) but I feel already that it is well worth it. First of all, you are done in 12 months--so you can start working sooner. And it goes by SO fast, I feel like I just started. Also, the faculty is so helpful and giving and there are so many resources to utilize. UR SON also has like a 100% or near to it pass rate for the NCLEX so they prepare us well! The program is fast paced and it is a TON of work, but totally doable if you can manage your time. Working might be hard tho....I quit working because I figured for a year, I need to focus and study and get good grades to move back to Cali :) But it is up to the individual. Anyway, if you guys have any questions about the program, feel free to ask, I know it is overwhelming and daunting but totally worth it!!! Also, if you want tips on housing or anything (especially those coming from far away) let me know! I came and had no furniture and no car and managed to find a place that is furnished and directly across the street from school and the hospital. The White Coat Ghetto is probably the best place to live if you are coming from out of state and want to be close to school and work. You are going to have a great time-hard but rewarding! :)

Hi hbsummer7!

I wrote a post below but have you checked our RocRooms? They are furnished, in the white coat ghetto and I just ran by a few today that have Room for Rent signs out front!! Walking distance to school :)

Thanks shamock529, that's really helpful! I am also a girl trying to find a roomie, those RocRooms definitely sound promising!

Also, how is the rent for these rooms? Are they pretty reasonable?

Thanks so much shamrock529. Where are you from in CA? I'm coming from Huntington Beach down south, and have never been to Rochester so I have noo idea what I'm going into!

And did they just match you with a roommate when you filled out that application thing on the roc rooms website? And did you wait until you got to Rochester to find a place or did you have it set up before leaving CA?

Hi all,

I will also be attending U of R this fall for the ABPNN program. I live in central NY, and I am looking for roommates.
