Hello Everybody:
I decided to make this new thread for the students that are applying to the ABPNN (University of Rochester) for the fall 2012. I have been reading other posts from previous cohorts, but haven't found anyone for the fall 2012 cohort. I sent my application a few days ago, so now I'm in the WAITING process. Does anyone know how long is going to take them to have the final results? Any comments will be appreciated and will help us to stay on top of the GAME!! Good luck to all of you!!
I was recently accepted into the ABPNN, but I will be declining my admission. I will let Rochester know some time in the future.
Tip for those waitlisted: make plans to see your physician before June 29th. The acceptance packet included a health form that must be sent back to the school's health service office by June 29th - this deadline might be extended for those that are waitlisted but then later accepted but don't bet on there being an extension.
Take care, future nursing students.
EDIT: One of the health requirements was that nursing students must have "two Tuberculin Skin Test done within the year (one in 2011 and one three months of the start of the program, unless you have a past positive skin test and it is reported)...
Now, unless there is a time machine somewhere, I think that the letter writer made a mistake by typing "2011." You should check with the school if you did not do the skin test in 2011.
EDIT: The financial aid information paper has a mistake on it. For the 2012 - 2013 academic year: if you were born before January 1, 1989, not January 1, 1988, you can be considered an independent student and thus qualify for an additional $5,000 in stafford loans. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/help/fftoc02k.htm
Now, unless I come across other mistakes, I won't go into detail on what else the packet includes (ex. times/places for possible mandatory meetings; whom to call for specific information, etc.).
Cromantic: I havent gotten anything yet, may be cuase I am a little bit farther than u... Can u tell me how much is the total cost and if u got any finantial aid...
Nonnahs917: did u got accepted?? my stats.. General GPA 3.6. Pre-Rq GPA 3.7. I have a lot of experience in the nursing field, been an LPN since 2011, plus my Nursing school that had tons of clinicals time!! hope that helps and I see that somebody is not gonna attend anymore, so good luck!!!!
Thanks for all the info, when I called the other day they said that we were ranked out of 10, they debated and decided that this application pool to accept those with a score of either 9.3-9.4 + and finally settled on 9.4. Guess what my score was?? 9.33! So I'm hoping that if they head to the waitlist I should make it in :)Thanks for the health info. I had a TB test when I volunteered at the hospital but that was 2010. I mind as well get that taken care of.Good luck everyone!

I'm thinking positive thoughts for the both of us! Where else dd you apply? Whats your first choice? My only saving grave is that if (when!) I get in, I'd move home to my parents and I don't have a lease where I currently am. I only applied to UR, however if I don't get in I was accepted to Georgia States Health Science school where I'll take master level nutrition classes to hopefully boost up my application. I was an art history major so sadly I know my undergraduate course work is not viewed as rigorous as the bio/engineering students.
