  1. Hi everyone! Does CHOA accept new grads for jobs that are not in the residency program? Does anyone know the starting hourly (I'm graduating with my BSN in August). Thanks!
  2. That's right...tuition is ~$60,000, health insurance ~$2000, parking ~$300, books/supplies ~$2000. I didn't receive any aid however some people received small $10,000 scholarships (I think about 20 ppl get them). You can find all of this on the website and keep in mind this is for the 2012-13 class.
  3. Does anyone know if there is an admitted students day or anything before the start of classes on 9/4? When is everyone moving to Rochester? Does anyone want to get together for a celebratory drink(s) before the start of class?
  4. Has anyone else had trouble logging onto the Accepted Students FB page? I copy/pasted: University of Rochester ABPNN start Fall 2012 and nothing came up...
  5. Has anyone heard back regarding the waitlist? Or do any accepted students know if they're even utilizing it this cohort? (fingers crossed!)
  6. I'd be careful assuming that bio classes are "above" the nursing level. It is that type of mentality that makes people look down on the nursing profession. I was not a bio major but took bio 1/2, chem 1, orgo 1, and biochem and yes they require more memorization then say my art history classes, but my A&P, micro and nutrition classes also had labs and stemmed off of those "pre-med" classes. Nursing is a different way of thinking and the applicants who are applying to nursing school these days are not strictly women who are debating between elementary education and nursing, all the while hoping to get married off. Former engineers, scientist's, teachers, artists etc are changing professions to become nurses not because they can't be a Doctor, but because they don't want to. Granted even two years ago it was "easier" to get into nursing school but times have changed and I think for the better. My point is not to diminish the work you put into your undergrad, but moreover to open your eyes to your future co-workers and nurses. The average GPA of all the schools I've looked at, private and public are 3.6+ and a majority of those students are former science majors. Different schools focus on different things and your experience speaks volumes. Again, sorry to be matter of fact-I simply take a lot of pride in becoming a nurse, and eventually a Nurse Practitioner and feel that if we nurses don't value what we're doing above all, the public and our co-workers most definitely will not (and this is coming from someone who's fiancé is a Surgical resident who for an entire year pressured me to go to medical school bc he thought that if I had the class work and grades for medical school why wouldnt I go?!)
  7. There are tons of factors that play into admissions besides GPA. All you can do is apply to a variety of schools and hopefully you have A's in your pre recs. Don't be blue!
  8. Thanks for all the info, when I called the other day they said that we were ranked out of 10, they debated and decided that this application pool to accept those with a score of either 9.3-9.4 + and finally settled on 9.4. Guess what my score was?? 9.33! So I'm hoping that if they head to the waitlist I should make it in :)Thanks for the health info. I had a TB test when I volunteered at the hospital but that was 2010. I mind as well get that taken care of.Good luck everyone!
  9. Thank you! I'm really hoping the numbers work out and I'll be joining everyone this fall :)
  10. Accepted: does anyone mind sharing their stats? Many thanks from the waitlist!
  11. I think I lost everyone! lol ... for those accepted, when are your deposits due? I'm trying to figure out when the earliest I'd hear back regarding the waitlist.
  12. I'm thinking positive thoughts for the both of us! Where else dd you apply? Whats your first choice? My only saving grave is that if (when!) I get in, I'd move home to my parents and I don't have a lease where I currently am. I only applied to UR, however if I don't get in I was accepted to Georgia States Health Science school where I'll take master level nutrition classes to hopefully boost up my application. I was an art history major so sadly I know my undergraduate course work is not viewed as rigorous as the bio/engineering students.
  13. I got wait listed too Does anyone know how many people were accepted, not how many spots? Aka-56 spots, but they accepted 66 and waitlisted 20.
  14. @9ft: how did you find out?
  15. Congrats!! I just called and they don't have a decision for me yet. My stomach is turning. I had a late interview so I'm hoping that's why :(I sincerely hope the folks on the wait list hear before mid August, how is anyone supposed to plan?
