NYP Nurse Residency

Hi everyone,

I applied for the nurse residency program at NYP and attended May 2014 Meet and Greet event. From there, I was selected for the battery test, and then later invited to attend another event for the Top New Grads. After this event, I had a phone interview for an open position and was told I would hear from the unit manager shortly to schedule an in person interview. After 2 weeks of waiting, I decided to send an email to the recruiter to get a status update and was told the position was given to another candidate but I was still in the running for open positions as soon as they are available. Anyone in the same boat? I'm not sure if I should wait for this or start applying elsewhere. It is quite the process.

Can anyone give me any feedback?

Keep applying, cast your neck wide.

Also, your best bet would be to post in the NY nursing forum, for a more targeted response; there may be a few members over there that have went through the process and can give you better insight.

You might also send the recruiter a thank you note for considering you for the position. That would put you in a good light as opposed to other candidates.

I would keep applying. Who knows when the next opening will appear. It's crazy that you went through all of that to end up not being chosen though.

DO NOT wait on NYP. Keep applying. Who knows when you will hear back from them. I applied to a position recently with 1.5 years experience in acute care in the same department that nyp was considering me for and was told the position was given to another candidate with more experience. I applied to nyp to see what happens as they contacted me via linkedin inviting me to apply. They have hundreds of applicants for one position. I would not wait on them. It would be damaging to you and you would become an old new grad and miss on any opportunities you may get sooner.
