Nassau Community College Fall 2015

U.S.A. New York

Hey guys I'm just starting another thread for the Fall semester, because it seemed the past threads were very helpful. I also had a few questions and wanted to see what other people's opinions were on my chances of getting into the program. Feel free to share your thoughts, questions, etc!

I am a Suffolk County resident and not a student at NCC. Will this hinder my chances of getting in? I've read in previous posts I would be losing out on several points because of this? I rather have you guys be 100% honest than as opposed to giving me hope. As far as my grades it's as follows...

Anatomy and Physiology I: B+ (3.5 Suffolk Community College)

Statistics: B+ (3.333 Syracuse University)

English 101: A- ( 3.7 Stonybrook University)

Psych 101: A (4.0 Suffolk Community College)

TEAS V: 84.1 Advanced (I believe this was 94-95% percentile)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

NCC does take into consideration county of residence when going through applications. I don't know how much weight it carries though but I think you'll be fine.

I'm applying at NCC too (fall 2015) and I think our chances are pretty much the same. I'm going in as a:

Nassau county resident

Pre reqs A&P - A

Psy - A

Sta - A

Eng - B+

Teas result is a 76 with a percentile of 80%

My GPA is 3.88

I'm worried about my teas score even though folks have been accepted at NCC with a lower GPA & Teas result. I guess it all depends on the quality of students applying.

Hey you guys. Does anyone know the deadline for Fall 2015?

Does anyone know when we will hear if we were accepted for the fall program?

Pretty sure end of April letters go out

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to apply into NCC for the spring semester of 2016 for the Nursing Program. I am concerned that I may not get accepted because I took A&P I a few years back and received a grade of a C. I repeated the class the next year but withdrew before I completed it. The school informed me that even though I withdrew it would count towards the 2 times that your are allowed to take it. So I am pretty much stuck with the grade of a C.

I also have taken English 101 and received a B+ in that course and I took Psychology and received a B+. I am planning to take statistics in the summer and will need to receive an A in the class to even be considered into the program. If I receive an A that would make my GPA of those 4 classes a 3.15. I was also concerned about this because I am aware that a 3.0 is the minimum GPA considered and I am on the very low end.

I live in Nassau County so I know that will work in my favor and I am also planning to take some of the other Elective classes needed for the nursing program (A&P II, Biomedical Ethics, Lifespan, etc.) in the fall semester. I have already taken Chemistry and Biochemistry at another institution and received B- in Chemistry and a C in Biochemistry. I am wondering if that could help in my favor in any way since those are some harder science courses.

I took all of these courses a few years back and I was a lot younger and not really focused on school but it is now my number one priority and I am trying to correct all the mistakes I have made in the past. I am wondering if any one knows of any extra things that I might be able to do that would make me seem more appealing to the selection committee. Im willing to do pretty much anything that could help my chances. Let me know what you guys think and if you have any advice for me.

Thanks so much!

I would suggest taking A&P2, Statistics, Microbiology, and Lifespan and making sure you get A's in these classes to improve your GPA. Also, maybe consider retaking biochemistry.
