Anyone got any acceptance letters for this yet? Are acceptance/rejection letters even being sent out right now? :o

Specializes in Neurosurgery, Neurology.
Hi I just finished NUR101. You need the book as soon as possible. And the ATI books will come to the school once you order them through ATI. ..... Word of advice, if anyone has the books now read them because the reading can get to be too much if you fall behind. And focus more on the key points, the boxes on the pages, and the nursing process as a whole!... If u can do that u will do great. Goodluck

If you don't mind, could you share more about your experiences in the first semester? How do you like the program? Is it very rigorous? How were your clinical experiences so far?

i graduated from the program. read, read, read. you need the textbook, we used kozier. ati is a summary..

the first semester was hard, as i came in with no nursing experience. people with some cna/pca experience seem to do a little better in clinical. i did great in the classroom, but was clinically weak. i found the program very rigorous. i mistakenly took chemistry with nursing 101 and almost failed chemistry. luckily i had a professor who dropped your lowest grade.

So the Kozier books doesn't come with the ATI program? Because it said the ATI program comes with a complete set of textbooks. If not, do you suggest buying the books or renting? Will we need them all four semesters? Thanks for any information regarding the program. I'm so nervous!

Buying textbooks is the way to go, they do carry over through the semesters and of course would be good review before your boards after you graduate. If you haven't gotten your physical started, you are already behind. The health office is very particular about the physical and documentation and they could really hold you up. I just went with my physical as a second year student and they made me go back to my doctor because they didn't like a symbol she used and wanted it changed to "within normal limits". Very petty stuff at the health office, I think to get my first year physical complete it took 7 trips to my doctors office. Also another suggestion, as the opportunities in class come up to test out on skills you should do that as early as possible and don't put it off. Don't put anything off in the program, complete anything and everything as soon as you have the chance. Also get involved and watch for extra things offered through the department- for example they usually do a test taking tips class for 101 students, math reviews, the nursing club has things every once and a while. Good luck.

Hey @gabriela.ayalaSry for my late response but I've been extremely busy... My advice to you is to try your luck and apply. I had a low gpa (3.3), I received a C on A&P. however, although I know they don't look at A&P 2, I received a A and my teas score was moderate (89). I found out about the program 4 days before the deadline and did everything possible to make it in time for the deadline and I got accepted!!! As long as you meet the requirements, TRY AND APPLY...I hope you get accepted!!

Hi NYC. Yes it is very rigorous. However, I enjoy the program. Clinicals are the best part to me. At first I was completely nervous to work with a patient but as time went on I got confident and my clinical professor was great! You have to read everything and focus on the main points. The nursing assessment and process you need to know and apply to everything. The test taking 101 sessions are amazingly helpful. I went to all of them. Best of luck to you and everyone this semester.

ati is a separate set of books. it does not come with the Kozier textbook. I used Kozier for 101 and 105. I would definitely suggesting buying. I refer back to my textbooks now in my rn to bsn program.

Congrats all! I hope you all continue to update to let the rest of us know how it is! I'm currently at NCC, just registered for stats for the winter session (ugh). I'll be applying for Fall 2014. I have As in everything so I'm cautiously optimistic. I like that NCC is nearby, new facilities, seems like a rigorous program, and of course the tuition. The only thing is of course that it's an ADN. I'm definitely curious about that Farmingdale accelerated joint program they have, but I think that's only for the Fall starts IIRC.

Anyway, congrats again, exciting!

any news for you yet?

are you assigned reading chapters over the break?? like before Nur 101 .. because I got accepted to Fall 2014 and I want to know what I'm gonna have to do.
