  1. How do I move it to the NY forum? Sorry
  2. It's Farmingdale state college on Long Island, NY.
  3. So I have an associates in Food & Nutrition and I basically have all the pre reqs for the nursing program at Farmingdale, all I need is Medical Micro. I have a 3.7 gpa but my grades in anatomy & physiology are in the C's and I know that to be considered a competitive applicant you should get B's in those courses but I don't have those grades. Is there anyone that went or is currently in the program who received lower than C's in the class? I am thinking that maybe there is a way to get into the program since my overall gpa is 3.7 and they can see that I am committed since I have my associates. Idk.. please explain your experience. :|
  4. @Lucy100 Well either way, I will try to get my RD credentials and get a job in that area. If all goes well, I will stay, if not, then I will try to work part- time and maybe I can go for a Masters as a Physician Assistant?? It seems like that is the only way I can have my Bachelors in a different area and get into a program that will accept my major. I had nursing in mind at first and then PA, but honestly anything in the healthcare is fine. I just want a career where I know my job is secure and where I can also use my nutrition background. I've looked into some PA programs and they're all around 25-28 months long. The pre reqs are a Bachelors of science ex Anatomy 1 & 2, Chem 1 & 2, Organic, Biology 1 & 2 all that good stuff. So maybe I won't need to take anything since I pretty much have taken all of these classes. IDK! Anything else in mind?
  5. I have 2 more semesters left to get my bachelors in Nutrition & Dietetics. After that I want to pursue a masters in nursing to become a nurse practitioner. I want to combine my nutrition knowledge with nursing and stay within the health field. I feel like it's as close to a Doctorate as I can get. Anyways doctors only have to take 1 nutrition course depending what school they go to, so their knowledge on nutrition is very limited. Do you guys think that is a smart idea? It's something I've always thought of doing.
  6. @ICUman, RN How come you are switching fields? And I am switching because I feel there are way more opportunities in the Nursing area than the Nutrition area. Also the schedules are more flexible in nursing and the pay is way higher for nurses here in NY. Maybe I can use both of my areas when I am working.
  7. Hi, I live in Ny and I was wondering if there is anyone out there that is a Clinical Registered Dietitian and has or is transitioning to a Registered Nurse. We basically take the same pre reqs except for the nursing classes obviously. I was wondering if it is an easy transition because I am considering going into nursing. I love nutrition but I would like to do nursing also. If there is anyone out there can you tell me your experience. Please and thank you.
  8. It cost me $299.50 for the book package of 1 & 2 .. I still need one more :/
  9. The 3 textbooks we need don't have anything to do with the ATI program though right ? like we still need 1) Kozier & Erb's 2) Medical- surgical nursing & 3) Handbook of nursing diagnosis right ??
  10. Does anyone know their professors yet? I have Cathy Jansen for most of my lectures, I still don't know for the hospital.
  11. Thanks ... i hope to be in bed by 11 -.-
  12. For those of you who are nursing students, can you tell me how many hours of sleep you'd get while going to nursing school? And if you had a lot of time to study, or why you didn't get enough sleep. I just want to know. I'll be starting nursing school in fall of 2014 and I would love to get at least 7 hours of sleep lol. just want to know how you guys are doing and what I'll be expecting. (i will be working only once a week and nothing else other than studying!) :)
  13. Congrats !!!!! @DaisyDukes987 now we're all in
  14. Well I'm going to do it ! anyways I'll have a month and a half to look for a job. Hopefully I can find one :) .. Thanks !
  15. Ahhh I don't know what to do because I'm currently working at Carvel and I have flexible hours plus I get paid $11.75 .. (maybe not much compared to you guys) but I love my job. I just didn't want to feel extremely lost once we start clinicals. someone in my class today told me to do it, he said he works in a hospital and he's seen a bunch of nursing students cry bc they didn't know what they were doing … I don't want that happening to me. :/
