HELP! I CAN'T FIND A JOB as a NEW GRAD RN

U.S.A. New York

I've had my RN license for about 2 weeks and cant seem to find a job in the hospital. I have applied and literally talked to the Nursing Recruitment office at the VA who said Med-Surg was Full! Bellevue who said it takes 4-6 weeks to get a call back so jus drop off your resume. At NY Ear & Eye Infirmary who said jus drop off your resume at the Front Desk, Beth Israel & Lenox Hill said to wait and NYU & Columbia want BSNs.

I had interviews at two non-profit Clinics in the LES who pay ok but its a supervisor position as a new grad I need to get my feet wet!

So tell me where do I find a NYC hospital job as a new grad??

Specializes in acute care.

It's only been two weeks, give it time. When my friend became licensed, it took a month before her employer called her for an interview. Good luck and here are some hospitals you can look into.

What school did you graduate from?

Specializes in ED, ICU, PACU.

Have you tried NYP, Columbia or Cornell?

Also, I know that Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola starts their new grad programs a bit later than most others. If all else fails, it might be a way to get your foot into the door and then transfer to a NYC hospital as an experienced nurse.

Cornell is part of NYP and Columbia, they both want BSNs. Ill check out Winthrop. THanks!

why don't you try hhc....its not a very big salary like the private hospitals, but if you want to get your feet wet..try hhc..after you get some experience then you can try back to the private hospitals....good luck....

ive sent a resume to HHC, HR applied stating wait for a nurse manager. So may have some temp agency gigs for 3 weeks until i got a hospital jobs. Working full time is better then working per diem like i was in RN school

dont worry i'm in the same boat, graduated in june got my license almost a month ago and still no one has called, applyed all over... i know im supposed to wait and see what happens; but when you're in school and they tell you that there is a big demand for nurses and you go around looking for a job and they give you the run around it gets discoraging.....:banghead: i have been turned down by some hospitals because i dont have a BNS, i feel discriminated against because after all we're all nurses and we all take the same NCLEX exam :angryfire
