I just wanted to see how the breakdown is between 'City Dwellers' (aka, 5 borough people) and upstate dwellers (aka-- everyone else.... I love NY.. .aint it grand?)
me, personally, I am a Staten Islander... an outskirtish city dweller (tee hee.... we have Trees here!!!) who loves catskill....

I live in Suffolk County on Strong Island (Long Island :))
I've only been living for two years... Moved here from Nebraska.
I have certianly learned that if you can make it here you can make it anywhere.
I love NY!

Oh No! Now I've got that song, "New York, New York" in my head. . . .
"If I can make it there I'll make it . . . (da, da). . . anywhere. . . "
Yikes!
:chuckle
Cheers! :)

Another Suffolk County, Long Islander here.
When people say New York State (as opposed to New York City), I always think upstate, not Long Island. I guess you have to be a New Yorker for these things to make sense or even matter.

Yates County here!! In the Fingerlakes Region on Keuka Lake; it's definately Gods' country. We moved in from MA approximately seven years and are really glad we did.

Upstate NY here... I live in Steuben County, I can see Keuka lake where I work... but hopefully not for long if I can find another place to work as a LPN. I'm not happy at the LTC facility where I'm working now... but thats life. Any ways, I think it's cool to have individual state forums!

Hey GPNANGEL/neighbor, which facility do you work at? maybe I can help. feel free to pm
Hi Furst, I work at Davenport & Taylor... employed at Taylor's Nursing home... it's connected to the Davenport Hopistal in Bath.
I just graduated back in June, took the NCLEX on the 15th of this month, and found out this past Monday that I passed... so I don't have much experience yet working in LTC... I thought I would stay put for a month or two to gain some experience than go looking for another job. Although, if you know of any thing and can help in my job search that would be great!! I'm great with elderly people, but I just can't picture myself in LTC forever... I had my fair share of elderly people for awhile... But where I work now, it's a job, and I'm hangin' in there for the time being.

Living in Northern New York--aka "The North Country". 20 minutes from Kingston, Ontario and the Thousand Islands. Beautiful place--extremely cold and snowy.
