Concordia College - NY -2013

U.S.A. New York

Hi All,

I just sent off my application for Accelerated Nursing program at Concordia College for the fall of 2013. I'm really excited and nervous. I saw the thread for the fall 2012 was quite active and a few would-be 2013 students had posted to that one so I thought I should start a new one.

Anyway, I would LOVE to hear from any posters on the 2012 thread about how their experience has been going, anyone who is finished with the program, and anyone who is applying like me!

Thanks!!

thanks u !! @ ginamarie @accelbsn

@AccelBSN2- congratulations!!!. I'm going to send you a PM.

Congrats @lahhere and @AccelBSN2 we will be classmates. I can't wait to meet everyone. I've been reading the post and I know the waiting was killing you guys. Congrats again see you soon.

@AccelBSN2 I tried to send you a PM but it said your box was full

Thanks TK2U :) I hope everyone else receives good news as well.

Hey guys! I've been reading this post since I've applied and decided to join in. I recently got accepted for the fall 2013 cohort. Anyone in the area or in the program now is the dorming houses good or should I look for an apartment nearby? Also, what neighborhoods are good and affordable to live in? I am from Long Island

Hi tonimariep,

Congrats.

Concerning the living situation that depends. Will you have a car? You can look in many parts of Westchester and even take a peek in the Bronx. If you do not have a car I would not advise living to far just because you are not familiar with public transportation in Westchester. Bronxville would be best however that is a very expensive neighborhood. I have seen rentals go there for around $2100 a month .However Mount Vernon, Yonkers, White Plains, and New Rochelle are nice ( some of these have caveats attached such as where in the city you are living ) and have decent rental prices.

Hey All,

I decided to go through my pile of mail, and I had an acceptance letter. I am soooooo excited. I'm happy the suspense is over but even more overjoyed that I'll be starting nursing school soon. I am so ready to start this journey. I wish all of you guys still waiting good luck!!!

Congrats :). See you in the fall ( or at one of the orientations in June if previous year's threads still hold true)

Hey guys- I picked up my acceptance letter and ***** advised me that once we send our deposits in we will receive the info regarding orientation start dates etc. there is orientation in June and I think he said a few days o orientation type stuff right before we start in late August.

Thanks AccelBSN12 :) I look forward to meeting everyone. What is everyone planning on doing about work? My thoughts are to drop to per diem and work maybe 2 shifts per week. I'm anticipating spending a lot of time studying and know it won't leave many free hours. I am nervous though because my bills and living expenses aren't going anywhere.

I can't take out any private loans...

What can of work do you do that you can reduce your hours? Is it something in the hospitality business? I am thinking I may have to pick up some waitressing or bartending. let me know! thanks.
